NHL Hockey. Penalties that are called one night are let go the next. Penalties that aren't called are called the next. Even in the rule book, there are penalties, and their associated suspensions, that can be overturned after the game at the arbitrary discretion of the league.

The NBA. The sport guy made a great point when he said that it is absurd for NBA refs to be 60 year old men. The NBA needs younger refs who have better eyesight and are more athletic. Increased athleticism would put them in a better position to see the game from the proper angles.

The NBA easily even despite many blown calls by umpires in the strike zone.

QOTD: I have the biggest problem with the NBA and NFL. Part of the problem is that both deal with pretty arbitrary fouls that happen in a split second... and the rules themselves.

How many times last season did you see a QB barely tapped on the helmet and *zing* a 15 yard shot of yellow pain comes flying in the air. Drives me nuts when they do that!

QoTD: The NBA. Tim Donaghy is a perfect example. NBA refs change the game more than players do.

That being said, I think plate umpires in MLB have it hard because they can get fooled by good pitches outside the strike zone (like the hitters do), and call a strike...
