Monday Other Stuff (6-25-12) Stuck
Posted on June 25, 2012 at 10:32 AM.

If any of these links interest you, talk about them! (If you find any, send me a PM. I'll post them in the next update and mention you.)When growing up, my mom took great care of me. It is now time that I return the favor. She had a mild stroke a while back, has diabetes, heart problems and well, other things that bother her. I'll leave it at that.

She is to the point now, where she simply doesn't want to take her medicines. She eventually does, but it takes a while. Talking to her about why she needs to take them, when she needs to take them, showing her a schedule, etc. is a daily routine. Because of the stroke, her memory isn't good. What we tell her today, is forgotten tomorrow. It really is hard to deal with. As a family, we are just trying to do what we can, to make her happy. To me, the medicines are what is killing her. She takes 11 medicines a day, never wanting to take a single one of them, as she thinks (and it is ingrained into her brain) that they are all bad for her (she has never been a fan of medicine).

Anyways... Just send some prayers our way.

That's tough Steve. It's hard watching your parents and grandparents grow old. Best of luck to you and your family.

QoTD: Really good. Took Friday afternoon off to take my 5-month old son to the zoo, then went to our neighbor's daughter's 1st birthday party in the evening. After the little guy went to bed, my wife and I enjoyed an adult beverage or two on the front porch. Saturday went with some friends to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and had dinner afterwards. Had to do some work on Sunday, so that was the lowlight of the weekend.

Steve shockingly my dad just had a stroke about a month and a half back, he is also heavily diabetic and is going through a series of depression phases. Hence, I know exactly what your family is going through.

Know that my prayers are with you, your mom and family. You're the real Ironman, stay strong brother!

Hi Steve. great work as usual. I rarely comment here but I read what you wrote about your mother and I feel for you and your family. My folks are getting up in age now and its tough to see the people who took care of us need our assistance. At least your mom is not alone and has someone like yourself to lean on when she needs you most. My prayers to you and your family!
Keep posting your blog, I read it everyday!!!
