Hi there. I’m Steve McPherson. You may remember me from such features as “NBA 2K Hairstyle Disasters” and “NBA 2K13: Building a Team Around Signature Skills." Well, with a new year comes new responsibilities and so I wanted to introduce myself as your new beat writer for all things NBA 2K here on Operation Sports.
When I’m not working on my My Player (aptly named Cole Winter since I hail from Minneapolis) or redrafting a fantasy Association for the umpteenth time, I write about the actual NBA for a number of sites including Hardwood Paroxysm, HoopSpeak, HoopChalk and A Wolf Among Wolves, where I work with Zach Harper, whom you might recognize from My Career’s social media feed. He’s actually very nice in person, and talks way more about bacon and awful movies than how many rebounds someone got. (You can also follow me on the real Twitter right here.)
I’ve always liked incorporating video games into my posts for these other sites, including one where I compared ESPN’s NBA Rank project to the ratings for NBA 2K13, one where I watched the CPU play out a preseason Timberwolves-Bucks game I couldn’t watch, and one where I drew parallels between the NBA and Super Mario Bros.
I’ll be posting regularly here about all kinds of things related to the NBA 2K series in hopes of helping to spark what makes Operation Sports great: discussion. So I’ll close by opening it up to you guys. What kind of stuff do you want to see here?
