I've been playing the EA NCAA Football title games since the Bill Walsh College Football era on the Genesis. yea, that is a long time ago.
I've always been a fan of football and a huge College Football fan. Some people probably know that I'm a Texas Tech fan, so there hasn't been a lot for me to cheer about until recently, lol. I'm not one of those "hardcore" homers that only likes their team and hates their rivals. I'm just a huge College Football fan in general. don't get me wrong, I'll cheer for TTU when they play, I'm just not blinded by homerism.
The first NCAA video game I truly loved, was NCAA Football '98. Dynasty Mode! That was the greatest thing to hit a sports game to me, and it was in my favorite sport. It was basic, barely had any options for recruiting, but was still fun. It also had create-a-play and create-a-school in the game.
NCAA '99 added to that game, improved recruiting, etc.. the same continued for NCAA '00 and '01. With '02, it came out on PS2, I didn't have the PS2 at the time, but I did get to play it at a friends house a lot who did.
By the time NCAA 2003 came out, I had bought an Xbox. I loved the imporved graphics, but missed a lot the features that were gone from the PSone versions. The game still had dynasty mode, so I didn't complain. NCAA 2004 is considered one of the best NCAA game of all time, even one of the best sports games of that console generation. I don't know if I would put it that high, but it was diffentantly a great game.
NCAA '05 had tons of problems, especially on Xbox. It was the first one in the series to have online ability on the Xbox though. I didn't play online much though, I was always waiting for that mythical Online Dynasty to finally come. well '06 came, and it didn't bring OD, but improved the game to what I though was better than '04 in most areas. out of all these NCAA games I have play, this one got the most play time. Although, it was mostly because I was finally done with school(college) and I had a ton more time to play games.
I bought an Xbox 360 when it launched, the first NCAA game that came out for it was NCAA '07. man what a disappointment. I stuck with it for a long time though, I just love playing college football and the Xbox version wasn't compatible with the 360 either. I still had my Xbox(original) and my copy of '06, so I played that some more and continued my dynasty with my created school. NCAA '08 was much better, I like a lot of the things they addedm but the game still lacked in a lot of areas.
NCAA '09 came out and it had the only thing that could top Dynasty mode. It was Online Dynasty! Finally, 10+ years later, it's finally here! I still play NCAA '09 till this day, but not like I wish I could. Although OD is a great feature, the gameplay and AI was just terrible.
but now with NCAA 10, it seems it could be the game I've been waiting for since NCAA '04/'06. looks to have a lot of improved gameplay enhancements, along with some needed details. I know it wont have everything I want, but they are laying the foundation for a great game. It will have Online Dynasty too!
if anyone actually read all that, I'm sorry, it probably bored you to death. I've also been compiling a lot of Info on NCAA 10 and have been updating a post in the NCAA forum. you can see it here: NCAA 10 Info
