I am a gamer first and a football fan second. Having said that, I feel that Madden 10, while not 100% perfect, gave me a GREAT game of football.
Aside from the Gameplay, there are a few things I'd love to see incorporated into the next edition of Madden '11:
Graphically, Madden 10's emulation of REAL CAMERAS is something I truly love. Lens Distortion, Depth of Field and Water & Snow on the lens made for great immersion. Kudos. I'd like to see that evolve with the following additions:
Instant Replays with
NFL Films Philosophy - an option to have an Auto-Replay after EVERY play is overdue, along with the option to disable. Frequency of Replays have to be increased as well as the FRAMERATES. NFL Films covers games at 24fps, 48fps, 60fps, 96fps and 120fps. Also, broadcast networks use 1200+fps Super Slow Motion for big catches and hits. The Auto-Replay cameras in Madden should mimic these framerates and presentation.
Progressive Light Cycle - Taking inspiration from GTAIV, Far Cry 2 and Assassin's Creed II, let's have real lighting in a football game that changes as the game goes on. Make Madden worthy of a Time-Lapse video.
Lighting Effects - Don't stop with the Lighting Cycle. Give me Blooming & HDR. It's 2010, the game should look it.
Game Presentation - Bring back the option to show FIELD LINES. A visible Line Of Scrimmage. The BLUE LINE from CBS and NFL Network.
----------
On the AUDIO side:
Replace Tom Hammond - Madden needs someone younger and more energetic. This is all over the 'net and I agree. If he can't be replaced, this next idea may make Hammond good:
New Commentary Engine with EMOTION - figure out a way to have the commentator's excitement level reflect the play on the field. As a play develops, the Commentary reflects it emotionally.
Return of Authentic QB Voices - may not get all 32 QBs and Backups, but for the major stars like Brees, Brady, Manning, Big Ben - it should be the authentic voice.
-----
Finally, CUTSCENES. Stating the obvious, the cutscenes are great in Madden 10, but 11 definitely needs MORE for moments like "Measuring for a 1st Down", etc. Variety is the spice, right?
Thanks guys.
