A much needed approach in making a sports video game
Posted on November 11, 2008 at 10:07 PM.
I'll be quick and to the point. With next-gen systems, sports video games can not stand up against other video game titles. I'd be a liar if I falsified that statement. Nobody likes this. Why should us sports game fans not get as much quality as the first person shooter fans? We shouldn't. There are several reasons why sports games aren't as good as other titles. However, I want to focus on just one problem. My gripe is time. Call of Duty 4 was developed by over a 100 people and over the course of 2 years. What happened?? Arguably the greatest first person shooter ever. Now, sports games just don't take that kind of time to make their game. The game usually coexists with it's real life counter part. Therefore, a sports game is released once a year usually around the start of their respected season. The development time is short. Maybe 6-8 months. They just simply don't have enough time to address all the issues with the title. I could go in much more detail and rant on, but I won't. My solution...get 2 teams together, Team A works on this years title, while team B works on the next years title. This way in two years we will have a much more developed game and the cycle will continue. I know I know money is a huge issue. I don't want to hear it. Just make it happen. Us fans deserve it.

This kinda took place with the NBA Ballers franchise and NBA Street Franchise.
But I like the idea. It could work.
