I have to ask this because it's popped up in my mind again today and it's been bugging me. It's not worth a thread on the forums so I ask here. Hopefully someone can give an answer by the time I look at my blog tomorrow when continuing my commentary series.

Why the heck is Jim Fassell out of a job? OK, I know he wasn't the greatest offensive coordinator with the Ravens but offense and Ravens don't often fit in the same sentence very much so it was bound to not work out completely.

I think Fassel is a darn good coach. He can let the players run things on their own but will pull the reins in when the situation calls for it. He's a good delegate of responsibility and let his coordinators do their job but can and often will make adjustments when warranted. Last but not least he's a great quote

That's a pretty good question considering how many opportunities known head coaching stiffs are afforded (I'm looking at you Norv).

Not sure. I think he qualifies as a good but not great coach. I've heard he's a little too undisciplined for some people's tastes. I think owners are hoping to hit a HR with an inexperienced guy but when guys like Norv Turner and Dick Jauron (even though he's doing a good job in Buffalo) get second chances, why not Fassel? How old is he?
