Will the Fight Night series survive if it doesn't sell as expected?
Posted on August 24, 2010 at 08:46 AM.
I was wondering can this series take a hit in this economy. I think the expectations for Fight Night Champion will be the biggest to date. I think EA should go all out on this next game, as the saying goes,"They should go out on their shield". This could be the last game in the series.

I also hope they don't blame it on boxing so called dropping popularity. It's really a poor excuse to me. Madden had a drop in sales and football popularity hasn't dwindled at all. I notice executives and companies find something to justify sales drop offs.

I wonder how far does passion for the best game go before business steps in and say tell them what they want to hear because you can't do that? I just feel the Fight Night series might be on it's last legs because they are taking baby steps in certain areas of realism.

You can't sell a game to a grown man that you will sell to a child and said this is a true representation of the sport.

I agree with you. They need to go all out this time. I responded to one of MMChris's blogs last week and I mentioned that the Fight Night series should be on the list of endangered games.

Based upon some of Peter Moore's comments about boxing vs. MMA I believe it's now or never for the franchise. If FNC doesn't sell well I think EA will give up on the boxing genre entirely.

"You can't sell a game to a grown man that you will sell to a child and said this is a true representation of the sport."

Love this statement. Your target audience can't be everyone and still be authentic. Companies should know this by know. You're either arcade or simulation.

It will be a real downer if EA drop this series. I can understand this not being an annual release but if EA put their hearts into this they can make this game great. In Fight Night 4 they have a great platform to develop something special.
I think EA have over anticipated the level of sales for their MMA game. UFC 2010 didn't have the great response to it the previous instalment did & although MMA may be a better game I can't see many people investing in another game of the same genre.
