I keep hearing or reading producers say too much depth and realism in a sports game is boring to the casual fan and games will not sell well. I don't see where they are digging this information from because there are sports games with depth and realism that are great sellers. MLB:The Show and NBA 2K are fan favorites be they casual or SIM fans.

agreed. except for the part that says casual people have the ability to set sliders and difficulty.
casual fans wont take the time to adjust sliders, that is why the games are shipped with a very liberal/casual default setting.
its the hard core sim heads that will adjust sliders.

I have zero problems with shipping a more casual version of the game on default settings. But when you click that Simulation setting button it should be on and poppin.

Maybe have it when you are in the settings to start a game it's set to the default "the show" settings, and have an option to set it to "arcade" settings.
In nhl games i always tweak the settings to make it play like real hockey, and in the playoffs I turn the penalties down.
I'm not sure many people know that you can edit the gameplay settings to your liking, because I see reviews where people complain about sports games being too easy or hard, or the defence does this or that.
I personally want the closest to realism as I can get in sports games. That a big reason why I love the show. I played a friends 2k series before for the mlb and nhl and it's just not my thing.
