What makes you buy a sports videogame(s)?

Is it the popularity of the sport? Is it how well the sport is represented in a game or is it word of mouth? Please explain. I also would like to know what would keep you interested in a title and what would make you not buy a sports game.

I can say for myself that popularity of a sport never made me a fan of a sport in a videogame world. The detail to the sport made me embrace certain games I was once a ****** fan of. I don't care how popular the sport is if it's done horrible I have no interest. Games like NBA 2K and MLB: THE SHOW sell so well because the fans will not accept anything less than what the sport is.
People call the fans complainers because they want every detail they see in the game. I say they are true sports fans.

A good sports videogame should be a able to convert people into entire sports through the game alone. I have seen since being on this site people who dont watch soccer playing fifa, people who dont watch hockey playing EANHL and so-so baseball fans picking up the show.

Those 3 franchises are doing something right.

Exactly? You can make a hardcore fan out of a ****** fan if the game is done right.

The sole reason I would buy any giver games is if it links to another game such as NCAA rookies going to Madden. I'm all about the draft, so I i can't import players from a college version of the game, then there is no reason for me to buy.
