Hey World,
Many things going on in the world of hoops this week.
The Celtics picked up Jeff Green today for Kendrick Perkins. This brings to light a few things GM Danny Ainge is thinking in terms of both present and future.
Right now, the C's will have to battle it out with the Miami Heat and the struggling Magic. To me, this move says Dwight, you can beat us if you want but Shaq will handle you and frustrate you. Superman's teammates won't be enough to beat the Celtics.
Big Baby will be playing more and more now with the Celtics lack of depth, and he has playing at an all-star level this season, no doubt. This is a positive for the team.
For the Heat, Jeff Green can D up both Lebron, Wade, and Bosh if he has to. He isn't the most physical player, as he possesses more of a perimeter-oriented game. Finness is okay, though. You need that athletic ability on the wings to keep up with these guys, including Carmelo.
For the future, the Celtics are looking at a line up of Rondo, Green, and Glen "Big Baby" Davis to carry the torch. Rondo and Baby have the rings and experience, and Green will get an up close look at what a championship team is all about this season.
Rondo at the point with a SF such as Green will change the way the Celtics ball. They can push the ball more than they currently are. These days, Rondo usually has to slow down while KG, and Pierce catch up trailing behind him. Although Ray is usually getting open on the wings on the breaks.
The Celtics have cleared up cap space, and opened rosters spots while building for a championship right now. This is the Patriots Belichick model at it's finest.
Sign veterans, build up assets and trade them to stockpile for the future while remaining competitive now. Two second-round picks can be traded up into the first round.
On another note, my time in LA for NBA All-Star 2011 was quite an experience. This was a huge step for my career in terms of my credibility in the field of sports editorials. OS is officially on the map, and I'm proud to be a big part of that.
I am posting some of the pictures from my time in LA to my Arena. Most of the work I did was actually with NBA Cares. I had a chance to speak with some of the athletes, including Derek Rose who was the most humble of athletes I have met. Some of these guys were serious about the work they were doing to help the schools of LA, and I was glad to take part in the volunteer work myself.
Check 'em out in my arena.
That's it for now. My review process for Fight Night Champion begins...tomorrow night. Mixing in some of my own experiences and training in boxing, I look forward to what this title has to offer.
