NBA - Trading The Gold?
Posted on June 30, 2013 at 11:25 AM.

As a long time NBA fan I have to react to the recent big changes going around the league in the offseason. As all time Celtics fan and kind of big supporter of the Brooklyn Nets I was shocked by the trade actually. I understand the reasons behind them, but I can't really say that I'm happy.

Now I'm sure that a lot more trading is going to happen with the acquired players from Brooklyn, but it's still a strange news to hear. Garnett, Terry and Pierce are good players, not amazing nowdays, but good nevertheless. I felt that this season is really not for them. They played alright and time to time really good, but there were some matches that I really felt that they are off. Like Terry missing open shots, Pierce hesitating or taking shots that shouldn't have been taken and so on. About Gernett I only felt that time is catching up to him. I can see them in supporting roles in Brooklyn. Don't judge me just yet though. The way I mean this is that Brooklyn has a decent roster already and put up amazing performances over this season and the playoffs. Pierce, Garnett and Terry might just be the veterans that the Nets are looking for. I know I know most people will probably say that they have enough experience in Brooklyn, but this is different. Stars like Pierce have a different kind of mindset coming from Boston and can really change the whole level of play.

Now Boston acquired some decent talent, but not really the type that fit in right away with the style of play. I don't really see Wallace making a big difference. The Celtics I think are in rebuilding mode from now on, which can potentially take more than one season. Rondo needs to step up and be the key player he is, but right now he has to play with a team he is not used to. Now it only applies if Boston keeps what they got. Humphries is a guy I had huge hope for. I felt like he can accomplish much more, then he started playing worse. Time to time I had to say "damn I wasn't expecting this from you", but that might just be me. I still think that with the right kind of coach he can be a much more effective player when it comes to offensive plays. I'm excited to see what can he do when he gets a really supportive backcourt with one of the most talented PGs in the NBA. I'm not saying Williams isn't one of them, but he isn't the type of player Rondo is. He is slightly different from every aspect.

I know that this deal can change and lot more can happen.
