Infielder Carlos Triunfel, rated as one of the Mariners' top prospects, underwent surgery on his left ankle and leg on Wednesday.
Triunfel will begin his rehabilitation from surgery in Seattle in approximately two days and will have to wait at least four months before he can begin taking part in baseball activities. The 19-year-old from the Dominican Republic, playing for Double-A West Tennessee, injured his left leg sliding into second base on April 10. He suffered ligament damage in his left ankle and fractured the fibula in his left leg.
