100 Possessions Analysis
Play: Quick 42 Flare
Playbook: Hornets
Option #1

Well, I have surpassed the goal of documenting at least 100 possessions of a particular play. Per the request earlier, here is a brief analysis of Quick 42 Flare from the Hornets playbook. My disclaimer is that after running a few games with the Hornets, chose to venture off and use other teams since I wanted to see the difference of player movement and chemistry.

I personally do not consider this a "money play" for a few factors: (1) after the post entry pass, the key becomes congested with too many defenders, and (2) the player bringing the ball up is hardly ever free for an open look if the ball is skipped to him from the post because the pass is almost always too slow, resulting in the defense to easily adjust. But anyways, here is the analysis after the first 100 possessions.

When passing the ball on Option 1 (SF cuts back door after receiving off high off ball screen from PF):
- After 100 possessions, we attempted this pass 32 times, unfortunately... of the 32 passes, these were the results:
Scored only 3 times with the SF (9%).
Turned the ball over 26 times (81%)
Forced to dump the pass elsewhere that led to scoring 2 times (6%).
We had to Reset or run a PnR the remaining possessions.

Conclusions: if you aren't using a alley oop tandum at your PG and SF, totally bypass Option 1!!! And wait for the play to develop (if there's still clock left).

Stay tuned for the Option 2 Edition...
