About this 2K and Live thing
Posted on August 3, 2009 at 02:42 PM.
iight..i wanna put my 10 cents in on this 2k and Live thing that's been goin on for a good minute. A lot of people defend Live and others a re on 2K's side (like me). now if i recall, i can tell alot of people i know used to like Live back in the day. im not gonna lie i kinda liked it too, because they had their own little game play that made things real to life(im talkin bout the freestyle control)...Then NBA 2K6 came out. in my opinion the shot stick is probably the best feature in gameplay for a basketball game. it stands true as of now too..2k made changes with signature style animation that made it easier for us to get accustomed to our players shots (even though the X button is still old reliable). im not tryin to take shots at anyone on Live for its gameplay..but is it me or doesnt it seem like Lives controls on offense are a bit stale? that freestyle control on the right analog stick has been on for years..and yea there are some (meh..) changes to it, the game is still having a arcadey taste to it...and correct me if i am wrong but hasnt NBA Street had controls identical to what live has now? play Street V3 and Homecourt and you'll see what i mean. the moves are nice but Live's is jus more professional than that of street. 2k's control on offense is more tamed but after watching Czar's video comparing control's im not gonna lie 2k did have some problematic movements that made it hard to create a shot...but the game play is still smooth..man all im sayin is if you consider yourself a basketball fan and you wanna play a real basketball game, 2k9 is here for you...its much closer to reality than that of live..

Hi there,

well for this year, I agree.
2k9 IS the better game,IMO.

But I still have in mind what Beluba said on an interview (which was the reason for a very heavy discussion..), that 2K has a lot of flaws with their engine and try to camouflage a lot with their really good animations.

I had a lot of fun with 2k9 for about 6 months...but after that, even with heavy slider adjustments and rating experiments..I just couldn't stand it any longer.

Live 09 was even worse, so after 2 weeks I dumped it in.

But I am very confident, that the new dev team on EA has what it takes to bring live back.
And personally...I don't care which is the more popular game or even producer...I just want a descent BBall game. Last year it was 2k...and maybe this year it's EAs time to shine.

Nevertheless, nice read

i agree with you too, the game has produced some really questionable calls while playing a game either against the computer or a friend...then again..the same **** does happen when you're watching a real game too..**** happens...but i too have found some flaws in animations, especially when the refs in the game call a foul on certain plays. i think thats one of the biggest issues when playing this game

concerning 2k9,then yes.
My biggest problem were a quite lame sim engine, a descent problem to get good stats (again,sim-based) and a problem of variety.

Of course, Live had the same and even bigger problems (they couldn't even handle rebounds well)...so it was a sad year for BBall gamers,IMO.

How come you didnt mention the best bball game of all time NBA 09 from Sony? That game should be put in the bball video game hall of fame.
