Tiger Woods Online: My new addiction Stuck
Posted on January 26, 2010 at 11:40 AM.
In the words of a wise man: "Free is good."

Tiger Woods Online is free. Tiger Woods Online is good.

I've been playing at least a few rounds a day for a few days now, and I can honestly say I am totally in love with the game. It is what I would expect an online golf game to be built around the Tiger formula.

After you find the right settings to play with on your computer, you will find the game plays much like any other Tiger game. EA literally put a full version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online up for everyone to play, compete with each other, and enjoy together. There are seven courses, all with challenges to unlock, along with promises of new courses coming on a regular basis as well.

The gameplay, while it has a couple of hiccups still, is as good as anything else you'd expect from a Tiger's game. If you haven't checked it out, you really should give the game a look. My only hope is for more of a player customizable experience, at least in terms of creating tournaments. It'd be cool to be able to create tournaments to play with your friends. Of course, this would all be made easier with more robust social networking features.

I think the latter would play into creating multiple EA Online games. I can see a future where you can use your EA.com account to play a round of golf online and then going on to challenge your friends in an online game of basketball. There is definitely potential when the pricetag at the base level is free.

Have you played Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online? What did you think of it? Sound off!

i love TW-Online so far, especially for a beta release. I cannot wait for the Pro Shop to open.

I am just astounded how theres no lag with the 3-click what-so-ever and i have a so-so laptop and so-so wireless connection, no special computer specs. Its like the game is playing off my hard drive.

Yeah, I'm very impressed with the game and how it runs. It honestly opens up a new world of gaming if EA can copy this formula to other sports or even platforms.

Tiger Woods online. Is that a new porn site for his suite of female bagabonds?

I read this yesterday and tried it out and I was very impressed with the difficulty of getting it down, and the swing mechanisms are very good as well. I honestly have never liked the tru swing motion with the mouse, but the tri click does a very good job in making you feel like you got a good swing on the ball.

I find the difficulty to be where it needs to be, although there are still the -20 players out there, I just do not see how they get that done with the newer versions.

I have a high powered laptop I am playing on, and I just tweaked the graphic settings down one notch on everything and it runs smooth as can be, with no lag. The build up system is better here then in the console versions also.

Definitely worth a try. Oh, last thing I really enjoy is during single player rounds seeing the ball paths, shot number, and name of those you are playing against currently. Well done! I had 35 players playing the same course last night, thought it was very cool seeing those around me with their shots going on at the same time.

Thanks for the tip on this. I enjoyed playing 18 holes last night. Graphics are nice and the game runs pretty smoothly. Initial loading was a bit slow, but that might be more a function of my internet provider.
