OS Yearly Awards Coming in December.... Stuck

That's right, we're going to be passing out awards to which games were the best of the best in the sports genre this year. I'm not allowing myself to disclose which categories we will have (mostly because we haven't finalized a list yet) but I will say that 'Game of the Year' will most certainly be one award handed out.

Although my vote means very little to the big scheme of who wins the 'Game of the Year' award, I am pretty confident I know which game is going to be my pick. Going into the fall release season, I didn't think it was possible that I would pick any game BUT MLB '08: The Show.

The Show rekindled my love for baseball. It changed my life. Yet, here I stand...ready to crown another game the best of 2008. I played this other game so much, I am now in year 10 of my career...something I have never done before in a sports game. Thanks to a very good patch, I haven't played a better version of this game since the year 2003.

What game will be getting my 'Game of the Year' vote? None other than NCAA Football 09.

So what do you think? Am I absolutely an idiot? Or...do you agree with me? If not, what game was the best you played this year?

My comment is for you, though: NCAA 09 is the best version of the series since the black box, and I played straight through for 7 seasons before switching over to Madden this year. Thing is, I keep going back to NCAA when I want to "have fun gaming" (go figure). FIFA is a great and immersive game though as well . . . I think year in and out though, NCAA game is my favorite gaming experience in front of the tele . . .(If only they brought back create-a-school though!)

NCAA 09 isn't perfect but I can't stop playing it either. I'm in my 6th season and always look forward to my next game. I'll vote for that game myself!

I think they did great with NCAA Football too. The campus newspapers and website info give you a little extra off the field that Madden doesn't.

But game of the year? I gotta stick with The Show 08. Sooooo many incredible cutscenes. The game is just "alive"

As great as the Show is, it took a backwards step in some areas. I think the pitcher control is still too good and the sliders were a big mess. That really bugged me. Still a great game but could be even better.

Of course my favourite sport is football so I'm comletely biased towards NCAA from the start.

NCAA Football 09? Not even close imo. FIFA and The Show are easily better. A lot of people like NHL 09, but it was missing a major gameplay aspect (board play). NCAA Football still doesn't have all the stadiums in it. The run game is crippled unless you like to use turbo, which a lot of us don't. I'm just not seeing it. I won't even go into how it compares gameplay wise to ESPN NFL 2K5 or All Pro 2K8. It still has Mario running instead of smooth breaks from behind lead blockers.

I have to go with The Show, although I do think NCAA 09 was vastly improved. It is a good game just not game of the year in my opinion.

First let me say im now 27 and find myself loving video games more then I have ever before. I can't believe im going to say this but I have to go with FIFA09. I can't sit and watch a soccer match on TV or live but this game is awesome.

I vote for FIFA 09. But since it's not one of the big 4 sports here in America, I'll go with the show. It was just since an immersive experience, from the commentary to the graphics.

I like the fact you aren't scared to make a choice like this. I can't stop playing NCAA 09 either. For all it got wrong, it just is so much fun this year. My vote stays with The Show, but NCAA is a much better game than many are giving it credit for.
