OS 2009 End of the Year Awards Voting Begins Monday, Categories Here! Stuck

Just like last year, we will hand out Staff and Readers Choice awards for each category listed below. To get some excitement brewing (and maybe some speculation) here are the categories for this year's yearly awards:

Sports Game Publisher/Developer of the Year
Best Team Sports Game of the Year
Best Individual-Based Sports Game of the Year
Racing Game of the Year
Text-Sim of the Year
Downloadable Game of the Year
Best Online Experience of the Year
Wireless/Handheld Game of the Year
Most Innovative Feature
Best Dynasty Mode
Best Player/Career Mode
Most Realistic Gameplay
Best Presentation

Who do you think is going to take home the crown in each category? It looks to be pretty competitive across the board. Winners will be announced the last week of 2009.

I've only played a handful of sports games this year (MLB 09: The Show, Madden 10, and NBA 2k10), but I just don't see how any other sports title out there could have come close to MLB 09 this year. By far the best sports game I have ever played in my life (my experience in VG's goes back to the mid-90's), if not one of the top 5 videogames I have played period.

Some really good sports games this year. FIFA 10, Madden 10, the NBA games, NHL 10, but MLB 09 was the very best and made great strides from 08, except for online play, which needs to be fixed once and for all. I would be very happy if they just fixed and enhanced that and added a bunch of classic stadiums for MLB 10, and put more effort into the all-time players in terms of looks and stats. They could actually take a page from MLB 2K7 and their classic stadium add-on content. It was excellent.

I have been searching for the Holy Grail in baseball games since the early '80s and MLB 09 came pretty dang close. Add in and fix what I mentioned above and I think we will have it.
