Most anticipated games for the rest of 2009. Stuck
Posted on July 15, 2009 at 12:46 PM.
It seems like we have had an extremely busy year already in sports gaming with more big gaming titles hitting store shelves than usual for us here at OS.

However, the NCAA release is traditionally the start of the biggest release season for sports video games with Madden, the NBA games, NHL games, and FIFA all still to go. I'm personally excited to play a lot of titles, here are my top three most anticipated titles for the rest of the year -- feel free to add your own in the comments section!

1.FIFA 10 - I think this game could be a sleeper for our Game of the Year.
2. NBA 2K10 -The NBA Live folks are talking a big game, and it's probably warranted, but I'm just as interested in how 2K is able to respond to a surging title.
3. NHL 10 - I'm interested to see how our 2008 Sports Game of the Year follows its very successful act this year.

Madden 10 is the only sports game I really have on the radar. I don't know if I'll get another NBA game for a bit - I've just lost my love for basketball.

Non sports - Uncharted 2! My most anticipated game this year!

Definitely NHL 10.

NHL 09 is the only sports game from last year that I'm still playing (and it's been that way for a long time), plus the stuff they are adding to NHL 10 is just going to take it to another level of realism.

Can't wait to see what they add to the online modes.

Madden 10: First time I've been excited about Madden in a loooong time. I haven't purchased a Madden game since Madden 04. This year, it looks like the real deal.

NBA 2K10: It seems like if 2K really focused on gameplay issues, they could have something incredible up their sleeve. Of course, 2K's inept marketing team will mean that we won't know much until the game hits the shelves.

1. Madden 10' -This is the Make or Break year for them-
2. NBA Live/2K 10' -This is the battle for Supremacy...I am anxious to see who comes out on top-
3. FIFA 10 is definitely a sleeper hit in the making!!

DISAPPOINTMENT of the Year (so far) :

NCAA 10' (I'll reserve my comments on this one)

My top 3 most anticipated sports games are -

1. Madden 10 - Looking really great, so far. Not a complete overhaul, as I strongly believe they need a new animation engine, but I am used to that engine and it's not that bad, to me, especially seeing how NCAA 10 took the Madden 09 engine and improved on it in many great ways.

2. NBA Live 10 - I've been routing for them the last couple years and even though I didn't get Live 09 for my PS3 and went with 2K9, only, I did get both the year before. I think Live has some better gameplay elements that 2K doesn't and expect HUGE things this year from Live. Not hating on 2K, at all.

3. NHL 10 - Been an NHL head since the Genesis but I fell off the last few years. I liked the demos of the last 2. Not a big hockey fan but I am going to get NHL 10

NBA2k10 will be king. (live ? come on)

NHL10 will be an good upgrade over NHL09
. NHL2K10 could be a dark horse.

PES will still be dominant with itīs more alive fluidity of the game.

For me sports wise it's madden and nhl 10. Since i skipped purchasing NCAA this year Im going to use that money to support a sport i play and love, and a series i used to play religiously up until a few years ago NHL 10. I've heard nothing but great things about their last 2 installments and so I figure they deserve for me to give them a shot this year.

The only sports game I'm interested in the rest of the year is NBA2k10 and maybe NBA Live 10. I got Madden last year and barely played it at all so I'm not interested in doing the same this year. I have MLB 09 and Fight Night Round 4 for my sports gaming fix at the moment and have gotten back into CoD4 online again. I'm pumped for Modern Warfare 2.

I'm sure Fifa and NHL will be great games as well, but I really don't follow either sport much at all and can have just as much fun with an old game. Strange thing for me was that the last hockey game I got was NHL 2004 and the one before it that I actually owned (played a lot of the genesis ones and some N64 hockey games) was NHL '94 on Sega CD. A lot of the best players from '94 were still on the game and pretty good in 2004.

Madden 10 - first time I might buy the game on the current systems.
Modern Warfare 2 - This game will consume the rest of my spare time.
NBA2K10/NBA Live 10 - Either way, I want to see which one gets it right, and I am there -

Madden 10 - I'm a believer. Even if it doesn't quite live up to what I expect, it'll still be worlds better than what we've had.

NBA 2K10 - Very little marketing?? OK, yes. But the loudest dog doesn't always win the fight. I'm looking for yet another hoops title.

NHL 10 - Looks and sounds real good. But if I find out its not multi-player dynasty....its back to 2K for me.

I think FIFA 10 will be the sports game of the year. I'm really looking forward to playing with the new 360 degree control system. If EA focuses on refining gameplay and not adding useless features (which I don't think they will) *cough* Season Showdown *cough* then I think this game will be insane. I'm also really curious about the NBA titles this year. I feel like Live is really moving up while 2K is losing its recent dominance over Live. VERY interested about how it'll turn out. And of course I can't wait for Madden 10.

1) NHL 10
2) NHL 2k10 (has to get better than last year, doesn't it?)
3) Some football game with better gameplay than Madden - Backbreaker maybe?
