NCAA Football 14 Shaping Up to be a High Note for Series Stuck
Posted on June 14, 2013 at 01:56 PM.

With the dust settling from an eventful E3, there has been a lot of hype about the next generation of sports gaming. One of the games which has been largely overlooked during the past week due to it not having a next-gen version is NCAA Football 14.

Quietly, NCAA Football 14 had a great E3 with the debut of the Infinity Engine and new run game controls within the series which have left many with positive hands-on experiences.

On the surface, it appears as if NCAA has done a great job implementing the new physics engine from the videos which have surfaced as well as enacting some meaningful change within the run game. With what we know about the game this year, from the revamped Dynasty Mode to the new physics to Coach Skills, it appears as if the best NCAA Football of this generation very well could be hitting stores in July.

There are some potential pitfalls left. Things such as gameplay balance, big unforeseen bugs, and anything in between which could scuttle the franchise's most promising year in quite some time.

On the surface, there have been few NCAA titles which promised this much change from the prior year alongside so many fans who are actually warm to the ideas of change. If the changes are implemented correctly and if the game plays a relatively balanced game of football, the odds are pretty high this could be one of the best versions of the series ever.

It should also be mentioned that this will also be a similar brand of EA Football you are used to, whether you like it or not -- EA has a style of football they bring to market and that won't be changing as we close out this generation. If you have found enjoyment from past games in this series, it's likely this year's could be well received. If you do not like a lot of what EA football has brought to the table the past 7-8 years, it's also likely you won't like this year's game. It really is that simple.

Post-E3 Thoughts

We are only a few days away from the NCAA demo hitting the market next Tuesday, so there will soon be very little mystery about what the game is bringing to the table at that point.

As for now, this was a great show for NCAA. If flew under the radar and managed to impress despite the presence of next-gen technology in the same booth. If everything continues to come together correctly, this could be a very fun fall for college football gaming fans.

As long as they fix the safety play I'm happy, if not another year of 60 bucks down the tube.

Haven't been this excited since NCAA 11. If features play as advertised, which is never a guarantee, this years game could be special.

I hope I like the new recruiting, last years recruiting was one of the best aspects of the game.

Agree with @jsou4646 have to fix those DB bugs! I've liked what I've seen so far.. I'm not trying to get my expectations or hopes up too high!

I preferred NCAA 13 over Madden last year & I'm expecting the same this year. Madden may have the polish but NCAA has the content.

didn't buy NCAA last year so this year looks like it might be a buy. I think the new recruiting will be better I hated the one in the last few games it was annoying and tedious.

Agree about fixing the DB glitch, but didn't EA say last year it wasn't a glitch? I'm very much looking forward to '14 but I'll need to wait for word on whether it's still present or not.

I hope they didn't say it wasn't a glitch. If its nor a glitch it's just horrible safety play, whatever it was it has to be fixed. Running receivers deep always left someone open.

I actually pre ordered it from amazon for 45. Then after giving ea every opportunity to release all it's patches finally gave up on it and sold it eBay for 30. Coming from a guy who's bought every ncaa title it's just frustrating. 06 was probably my favorite.

I think this title is over due for true FCS schools. Team Builder don't cut it. Just imagine starting your coaching career at the FCS level and working up by either accepting an FBS schools contract or choosing to stay with your school as they transition from FCS to FBS. I personally would like to take Coastal Carolina to a FCS National Championship and then stick with them as they transfer to FBS and try to continue the success.

Yea player equipment always stood out to me as awful as well. They don't have to use the same items as the real players, just use the same thee or four masks for each position. I just want a game that plays realistically.
