Former NFL Star's Project Promises to Link Gamers to Athletes Stuck

In what is perhaps every sports gamers dream come true, former NFL and Chicago Bear linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer's new project will allow gamers to, "Receive and accept video game challenges from all of your favorite athletes in all the games you love."

The project's name is a mobile app entitled OverDog, and it promises big things for the future in terms of connectivity to our favorite athletes. The catch? The project is trying to raise 100,000 on Kickstarter to get fully funded.

From the projects Kickstarter page:

"OverDog connects fans (you!) with their favorite athletes via any video game title (Madden, FIFA, NBA2K, Call of Duty, HALO, just to name a few). We are working with athletes across all major sports (thanks to our friends at the NFLPA, MLBPA, NHLPA, MLSPA, NBPA, UFC, NCAA, and USOC) to build a premier gaming experience with the athlete in mind. Athletes are young, competitive, and tired after busy days at practice � it just makes sense that many of them spend that downtime playing hours and hours of video games."

OverDog's goal is to build an environment that both fans and athletes embrace. Currently, OverDog is expecting 100 athletes to be a part of the beta launch in April. The company plans to pay athletes to engage with fans, and it also plans online gaming leaderboards, fan vs. fan matchups and more in the future. The future possibilities as to what could be done with such a platform are endless.

To help raise funds, OverDog is offering people a chance to get in the program early by donating to the Kickstarter for the project. The full OverDog experience is slated for release in August.
