What is up with that? In Game Saves Edition Stuck
Posted on March 20, 2009 at 11:23 AM.
You are locked in an epic battle of strength, adversity, and courage. You have made it to your opponents red zone, it's time to go score a touchdown.

Then a call comes in from the other room.

"Honey, we need to run to Home Depot."

Game over. At least that's how it has usually been with most sports games in history. But developers are catching onto a cool trend that um, should have been in games a long time ago.

In-Game saves.

Why this feature is not an industry-wide standard at this point, I have no idea. But if it doesn't become one in the next couple of years I'm going to question the sanity of all sports game developers who don't put it into their game. Your thoughts?

Yeah, you are exactly right on this one. Life is too busy with work, family, all kinds of things in reality. I get my gaming in when I can, but often I don't know how long I have to play. All systems these days (even handhelds) have hard drives - there is no reason every game does not have in-game saves!

Right on point here. All sports games take up a good amount of your time, and in a lot of cases, I need to either pause te game for an extended amount of time or if I am lucky save in game. All sports titles need this - without a doubt.

Absolutely a great feature that has been ignored. It's especially important for any game that takes longer than 30 minutes (most sports games, particularly football). For those of us that have families, its huge. I'm really disappointed with the NCAA team's response on this issue. They don't think its that important and they think the enhanced Supersim helps minimize its need. Excuse me? Since when does playing the game equal simming a game? The Show can do it so no excuse for anyone else. I want in-game saves!

After July 2009, when our first baby is born, if it doesn't have in-game saves it doesn't get purchased. Especially football games when you may take and hour or an hour and a half to play a game.

Where do I sign the petition to make this a law. Overdue. Needed.

That's the problem though guys. A lot of these programmers are younger and don't have families. They don't understand the time constraints that families can add to our gaming and they don't care. It certainly seems as though the NCAA team could care less about adding this feature at any time in the future.

Madden Football had this last gen I know 08 didn't have it. MLB 2k9 does and I am estatic. I really don't play NCAA football that much anymore due to this fact. I hate wasting my time playing a game that won't count and if the wife wants "alone time" I am all for that and my dynasty of the Toledo Rockets will wait.

On point my friend. Love the feature in MLB The Show 09. Madden used to have it and needs to get it back.

Yeah, I was just thinking about that earlier today. Silly that games had it and took it out. Crazy to have to play a full 18 in Tiger before you can save it, makes it tough to get through a round.

All you do is tell your wife to shut up, and wait. In-game saves are a good feature, but there are plenty better things that could be added in its place.

@DougAlvarez -- spoken like someone who either has never had a wife, or used to and doesn't anymore. And try explaining to your 3 year old that you can't be bothered to come play because "Daddy's just about to get a touchdown, go away." Just wait to see how crappy the nursing home is that you get stuck in down the road. Can't figure out why in-game saves aren't a standard feature.

I've been saying this for years - if there is no in-game save, I do not purchase, unless the game is an ALL-TIME CLASSIC (this exception last applied to NFL 2K5).

But hey, why does the NCAA team have to put it in, with the monopoly EA has on college football? Why bother? You either buy that game or none at all. No need to cater to the growing older gamer demographic.
