The Completely Hypothetical (but still fun) 20 Team Playoff Simulation in NCAA 13 Stuck
Posted on January 24, 2013 at 01:39 PM.

They say to determine a true champion, you have to have a playoff. While we have to wait one more season before we can get a real four-team NCAA Football playoff, that isn't the case in NCAA Football 13.

What I've done is taken the final BCS rankings of the regular season and then created a twenty team bracket just as the NCAA does for it's FCS level of competition.

The process for creating the bracket is simple, the top 5 seeded teams are seeded as far away as possible from each other while the rest of the teams are placed as such to give the most geographically friendly games possible in the first two rounds while avoiding in-conference matchups as much as possible. Geographically friendly was much tougher than avoiding in conference matchups, as in our bracket there will be no conference re-matches in the first two rounds.

The bracket works where eight of the 20 teams play each other in first round matchups. Twelve teams, including the top 5 seeded teams get a bye from the first round game. In our simulation, we will play the first three rounds on the campus sites and neutral site games will begin with the semifinals. All games will be played as exhibition games with 8 minute quarters.

The top seeded team is always home and in lieu of that, the team on top of the bracket gets the home field advantages or home jerseys.

I'm going to run this simulation gradually over the next couple of weeks to see who our National Champion is on the digital field of play. The accurate rosters from bhrangerfan0809 are being used for this simulation!

With all of that said, what team do you see winning the Title in our fictional bracket? Give me your championship game pick now! We might just award anyone who guesses right with something, details TBA on that!

Tril - Not sure where you are getting that idea but you definitely can't do that!

I almost grabbed a pen and started filling in the brackets. I wonder if it will ever grow this big.

I would take Alabama over Georgia in a close one for the title. I had Notre Dame going out early to LSU and everything else pretty much went to plan. I can't wait to see how this works out though.

Great Idea!!!
Really looking forward to this... However, I don't expect The Tide to get very far.
Nick Saban's genius via "The Process" does not translate into the video game universe, thus Bama tends not to play as well as the real thing.
The team thats going to win will be the one with the most skilled and fastest skill position players operating out of a spread or pro offense. The game rewards speed and length.
