Saban Leaving Alabama? Maybe It's Time We Can Do the Same in EA Football? Stuck
Posted on December 21, 2012 at 10:21 AM.

One of the biggest thing missing from sports video games is the ability to take your experience and all of your hard work with you when you switch games -- in fact that's something which has been missing from all games for quite some time.

With the rumor of the week being that Nick Saban is leaving Alabama for a return to the NFL after this season, it makes me wonder just how far away we are from being able to do the same thing in our sports video games -- and by sports video games I specifically mean Madden NFL and NCAA Football.

The Football games are a unique sort nowadays, whereas there are no College Basketball, Hockey, or Baseball games on the market anymore -- there are football games for two levels of the sport. I'm thinking out loud here, but what if the next logical step from connected careers is, well, connected careers. You know, if you have a coach or a player in NCAA, you can transfer them to Madden and, in the case of coaches, back to NCAA at will at the end of every season.

Going a step further, what if you could start out a supple 17 year old high school senior in NCAA, move up through the recruiting rankings, end up playing your college ball at LSU, get drafted in the first round and play through your entire career in the NFL. Then, when you retire, you decide to become a coach. Being a HOF Running Back, the coach at Louisiana Tech gives you the OC job. Then you work your way through a coaching career.

Think about that type of power. Seriously think about it.

And let's dream bigger, what if you could take this experience from game to game -- from Madden NFL 14 to Madden NFL 15? What if you could do this and see your career through?

To me, that's the logical progression of Connected Careers and I hope that's where EA is eventually taking the mode.

But for now, I'm left wondering if the highest sort of profile job opening takes shape in about 3 weeks. Saban has, after all, done this song and dance before.

Sound Off: Do you believe Saban is leaving Alabama? Do you think this is the type of coach movement is something that'd translate well into Connected Careers?

It would be great, but lets be real here, Madden & NCAA cant even get the draft class transfer from NCAA to Madden correct yet, they fail at giving players the proper ratings & the look/facial/hair detail. Anyone remember past Madden games where the Heisman QB in the draft class that goes undrafted or gets 60ovr Madden rating. They are a long ways from doing something like this and getting it right. But it would be nice to transfer coaches.

Another thing, they would need plays from NCAA in Madden (ones that are legal), example would be if you transfer Chip Kelly to Madden, it would be pointless if you couldn't run his uptempo, no huddle, option offense that Madden almost completely lacks. Without the plays, tempo, and no huddle, it would make the entire idea pointless, because Chip Kelly would be no different then using a created coach or any NFL coach now. I mean of course his offense in the NFL wouldn't be the same, but still, its the idea of being able to run his offense that counts.

After Madden's owners mode had such success on the old machines, I expected this very thing would surely be in the newer console versions.

Head coach got close to fulfilling my expectations except I thought it would be like madden, controling the whole team. At the end of my losing season, the team I was coaching fired my coach and it was game over. Don't know if it was because no other team needed a coach or what but it would have nice if I could have given my failed coach a chance to redeem himself at the college level

I've been saying that for years. look up any post of the EA forums under tical2399, i've been going on about that for about 2 years now.

I've also said their should be some kinda file that gets saved when you start ncaa and it tracks all players over their season or 4 year career and that data gets exported along with the draft class. It show you career stats, games missed, stats against top teams, or against top players.

If you scouting a WR it would show how he played against 90+ rated CB and build his draft stock based on that among other stats. When coaches are exported to Madden, if they draft players who played under them, those players would come in with higher awareness ratings because they know that scheme well.

Stuff like that is what i want to see

Knowing Madden, they are too lazy to input this unless it could somehow make them millions.

This is the best gaming idea I've ever heard

They need to combine the 2 games some how real talk because if I new that.u could not export players for ncaa 13 to madden 13 I would had bouht it
