EA Press Conference Play-By-Play Stuck
Posted on June 4, 2012 at 03:49 PM.

I'm sitting in beautiful Oklahoma today, 2000 miles from the E3 Press Conference of the "World's Worst Company" and preparing to watch it on my television. That's pretty cool. Look to this post for my running thoughts on what EA reveals about it's sports gaming lineup (and perhaps everything else too).

Expect my thoughts to begin when the Press Conference Begins. You too can watch it live on Spike TV.

(All Times EDT)

4:04 - Press Conference Has Begun...a few minutes late.

4:07 -
Is it just me, or are the faces of everyone who demos a game on stage closer to a mindless zombie than an actual human? I'm pretty certain this is a sign the Zombie Apocalypse is closer than you'd think. Wait do I look like that when I play games?! Watching a Dead Space 3 demo right now.

4:11 - Ruh roh, is it already Madden time?

4:12 - Ray Lewis in an epic video/Madden montage.

4:13 - Pre-determined outcomes are history. Real time physics are in Madden NFL 13 with the Infinity Engine. "It completely changes the outcome of every single play."

4:14 - Michael Irvin is up on the stage talking about Connected Careers.

4:15 - You can create a league with 32 other players from being the player to a coach. You are trying to drive up your legacy score to make the Hall of Fame.

4:17 - News engine featuring a virtual Twitter feed. Cool.

4:18 - And that's it for Madden. Gameplay clips are certainly promising.

4:21 - I'm sorry I'm a Sim City nut. So I'm pretty sure I'm completely distracted at the moment.

4:23 - Yeah, I'm pretty much ready for more Sim City in my life. That trailer has me pretty much completely excited. Many hours will be lost.

4:27 - Battlefield Premium being shown off. Wonder when a Madden Premium will launch?

4:31 - I'm not an MMO guy, I am a Star Wars guy. This looks pretty ok to me...if you're into both of those sorts of things. Looks like Medal of Honor is up next.

4:34 - People complain Sports Games are stale, but every FPS I've seen shown off looks incredibly similar.

4:39 - It's not that Medal of Honor doesn't look good. It just looks like every other FPS. Maybe FPS' are like Procedural Crime Dramas at this point?

4:40 -
The Medal of Honor multiplayer trailer is interesting though. Need developers to think outside of the box when it comes to multiplayer experiences in all genres.

4:41 - Back to EA Sports. Here we go.

4:42 - Madden Social announced, a multiplatform social gaming version of Madden NFL Football. "Start a game on Facebook, finish it on your iPhone."

4:43 - New Skating Engine in NHL. Services in NBA Live, game will change all year long. Nothing new.

4:44 - "FIFA isn't just a game, it's a global platform. FIFA is Football's Social Network."

4:45 - All FIFA 12 players will carry on their levels into FIFA 13. Returning players will earn a bonus in the football catalog. FIFA 13 on mobile devices will be earning points in Football Club now as well. All new iPhone App that keeps you connected to FIFA, including live auctions for Ultimate Team.

4:46 - Messi is the inspiration for this year's game, he's the Global Coverman. New dribbling/attacking engine. Second generation of Player Impact Engine is more refined. AI will break down the field much better.

4:49 - Gameplay Trailer for 2011's Sports Game of the Year here at OS is incredibly impressive. Complete dribbling looks impressive. New Tactical free kicks. All new attacking intelligence. Yeah, I'm hyped.

4:50 - Ladies and Gentlemen....EA Sports and UFC are on stage together.

4:51 - "Proud to Announce a Multi-Year and Multi-Product agreement between EA Sports and UFC..." WOW

4:57 - Still trying to recover from that EA/UFC announcement. Need for Speed Most Wanted looks solid. The whole cop themed NFS always seems to work decently enough.

4:58 - Crysis is coming. Let's see how this looks.

5:02 - If you're going to create a procedural FPS, at least make it look good. Crytek has definitely pulled that off.

5:04 - And we're done. Lots of huge news. Two blogs to write immediately for this guy.

Now my hype level is at an all time high for Madden.

I think the feature would be awesome...but I'm not sure how much I'll use it since not many of my friends play Madden. Can't wait to see what all I can look at with my Iphone away from the game

It looks like they have done more between Madden 12 & 13 than they did between Madden 09 to Madden 12.
Better late then never. Looks very promising.

So I guess THQ has been left dangling.

# 11 RellyBaby @ Jun 4
THQ aren't "left dangling" there dangling dollar bills cuz EA had to pay them for the rights....
