MLB Front Office Manager Giveaway: Final Question Stuck
Posted on February 5, 2009 at 04:37 PM.
We are now at the end folks. The person who answers this question in the standings will win the game. Here are the standings:

Standings

goallout13 - 3 points
kwrichardson, blaise, JibJab24 - 2 points
asb37, HechticSooner, bryan_05 - 1 point

Again..if you aren't on the list above there is no way you can win the game. But you could certainly play spoiler to someone. Since this question is worth 3 points, the winner will be whoever answers this question. It's do or die time.

So here it is:

Baseball has sometimes gotten a bad rap for being an overly long game. However, sometimes the critics have a point. The event I am talking about is where 17 innings of baseball was played two nights in a row...but both games were not 17 innings in length. This question is not easy, because this is for all the marbles.

I want to know the dates the games were played as well as the final scores and total game times for both games and their records for the year. I also want to know the winning pitchers for both games. And for one more random stat, I want to know the number of double plays turned in both games combined.

Remember, you only get ONE chance to answer the question. And another caveat...if this question isn't successfully answered by the morning, I will up the points to 4, which means anyone could win the game! Good luck!

Dates : May 8 and May 9th, 1984
May 8th Game time : 8 Hours 6 Minutes
May 9th Game time : 2 Hours 9 Minutes

Games were played between Milwaukee Brewers (67-94) @ Chicago White Sox (74-88)

May 8th Final Score Chicago 7 Milwaukee 6 WP Tom Seaver. May 9th Chicago 5 Milwaukee 4 WP Tom Seaver.

Double Plays in both games - 9.

First game was 17 innings and called to darkness, resumed next day and went 8 more innings until the Sox won in 25. Then they played regularly scheduled game for 9 innings to make 17 innings that day as well.

Oh wait game wasn't called to darkness rather the the rules stated games could not continue into another inning at 12 : 59 am, which hopefully wont disqualify my answer.

Thanks, although technically it's not official yet, but yeah, when you have no class on Thursdays and it being pretty frigid out, there is nothing better to do.
