Dear Baseball, Welcome Back! Stuck
Posted on April 5, 2012 at 12:22 PM.

It's coming.

162 games. Six Months.

Baseball Season.

As a Rangers fan, the past two seasons have been a mixture of sheer glee and absolute horror. Last year felt like it was happening.

Two times. One strike away from a World Championship. Twice.

At the end of the day, the St. Louis Cardinals walked away as World Champions and my Rangers were playing second fiddle on baseball's grandest stage once again.

But there's always next year right?

I'm ready though. Spring and Summer bring great memories. Thrilling victories, heartbreaking losses, unforgettable moments that'll be remembered by people the rest of their lives. Young boys will go to the ballpark for the first time, new heroes will be made, new fans will be made.

As James Earl Jones famously said in 'The Field of Dreams':
"The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game, is a part of our past, Ray. It reminds us of all that once was good, and it could be again. Ohhhhhhhh, people will come, Ray. People will most definitely come."

Welcome back baseball. May there be many new memories made.

1993 World Series, Game 6. I was sitting in the 100 level along the first base line at the SkyDome to Joe Carter crack the walk-off series clincher.

Opening Day is one of my favorite days of the year. Called in sick to work today to watch my Cubs start the year.
