Skate 2: The First Hit of 2009 Stuck
Posted on January 15, 2009 at 11:21 AM.
Since I'm not reviewing the game (our very own Terry Crouch will be doing those honors) I can issue the following proclamation without much hesitation: Skate 2 will be the first bonafide hit this year in sports gaming.

I know the demo impressions are somewhat mixed but this game is going to be highly regarded when it is released. One thing I have learned is to never judge a demo's qualities exclusively, since the games usually end up looking much better and playing much more complex than the original demo could ever have.

So I guess my main point is that the game will most likely look great, play great and will leave enthusiasts setting up lines and doing all sorts of other awesome things until at least baseball season's start in March.

So what do you think? Is Skate 2 going to be a hit? Do you plan to play it? Did you play the original? Can I fit more questions in a paragraph than what I just did?

I played the original. Easily kept me enthralled for over a year. I know Skate 2 will be a hit. I haven't played the demo yet, but it drops today on PSN, so I expect to. You could fit more questions into one paragraph, but readers often lose interest with any more than you had.

I hope that answers everything. Looking forward to this game, that's for sure.

I could not be more excited for Skate 2. I would have been happy if the only new feature they added was the ability to get off your board and walk around. But they have gone above and beyond this request, so there is no question this game is going to be a hit. The PS3 demo comes out today but I've already gone ahead and preordered the game. This is a must buy for anybody who has stepped foot on a skateboard or who can appreciate the culture/difficulty of skateboarding.

Yeah, I played the original Skate and loved it. I didn't get to play it as long as I wanted to though 'cause I never bought it. But I'm definitely buying this one.
Played the demo and it reminded me why I loved the game so much in the first place.

I actually played Skate It on Wii and I have to say I was disappointed. It wasn't a bad game, it just didn't grab a hold of me for some reason like the original did. Anyway, the Skate 2 demo definitely renewed my interest in the series.

Is this going to be like a Tony Hawk game? I usually lose interest in those rather quickly.

No, it's nothing like Tony Hawk. If you even remotely like Tony Hawk games you'll love Skate.
