NCAA Football 12 Looks Good -- But I'm Not Entirely Convinced Stuck
Posted on April 20, 2011 at 03:47 PM.

NCAA Football 12 has some real positives going for it thus far -- the improved gameday atmosphere, new and improved looks, and on the surface the new tackling engine looks like the game has taken another step towards real-time physics (without actually getting there of course).

However, while all of the above is all well and good -- here are the things I'm waiting to hear before my excitement level leaps into overdrive:

1)Improved Dynasty Mode with a Coaching Market. Dynasty mode has lacked focus the past few years, I want the focus to be on you running the program. College coaches are a HUGE part of the game, possibly the biggest part of college football really, and I think to neglect them the past several years is an injustice of the highest order. I'm hopeful given the realistic looking coaches in the NCAA trailer that this is something that was touched up and fixed this year.

2)Real TV Style Presentation. EA Tiburon has had a weird history with trying to meld a halfway presentation style. Tiger Woods, Madden and NCAA all suffer from this attempt to put you on the field (or course) while also watching the game on TV. I'm hoping that sometime very soon, perhaps this year given some of the cut scenes we saw in the sizzle trailer that NCAA developers just decide to go full-on TV like a few of their peers in our genre (all of whom have made the transition to rave reviews).

3)What was touched on the field? We don't know anything about the on-the-field product yet -- at least in terms of specifics. I'm watching and waiting for word on what's been touched here. Improved tackling is always a positive step in the right direction -- but is the tackling improved or were new physics introduced which also happened to take something else away? It's always a worry, so I'm on full on wait and see mode.

So that's the three things I'm really wanting to see in NCAA this year. I think NCAA will be the best football game on the market this year -- but the question is will it be able to live up to particularly solid efforts the past several years? What are you looking for before you jump in or are you already on the must-buy bandwagon?

Madden has had Broadcast Camera for 2 yrs now, while NCAA has not eventhough the community has asked the past 2 yrs.

The big issue I have with the NCAA team, is that here we are AGAIN asking for things that are 2-4 yrs old.

We are never given the chance to address the things found from last year's release that hurt the game.

We don't need wish lists, these things you noted have been wished/talked about to death.

If it can't be done for whatever reason, tell us so we can move on.
But stop leaving us hanging/asking for the same things year after year, only to not have them installed.

You hit the 3 things I've wanted them to address since being on Next-Gen.

Is it me or does EA repackage a lot of new features that were in the game a year before? How many times are they going to repackage the tackle engine(locomotion last year) and college atmosphere? Seriously some me something innovative and not fluff..

The repackage stuff in Madden all the time...like the sideline tackles and hit stick....please.

I just want two things to happen with NCAA 12
1. I don't want to see LB or anyone on the D for that matter jumping up to swat passes away. You could barely throw over the middle in 11.

2. Make the WR/TE more aware of passes and give them the ability to make plays instead of us having to control them. Make their ratings matter.

Locomotion had to do with losing momentum while making sudden turns which real people can not do, think back to madden 09 where you didnt even have to juke all you had to do was hold turbo and turn suddenly to lose your opponent. Locomotion made it so that only agile players could change direction a little more fluidly than non agile player. But it did make tackling easier. But locomotion was not a tackling engine.

edit *** which real people do when running and changing direction like doing a 180 or making a sharp left or right turn***

I hope they added and fixed at least some of the following

1 Bigger roster
2 Recruiting or just add alot of speedy players in each position
3 Physic Cbs and Mlbs aka high jumping defensive players.
4 Pressure off and def on the line of scrimmage
5 Hit Stick
6 Spring Games
7 Conference Expansion
8 Rules and violations
9 Cheating A.I. engine
10 Late Hit

Chris,

I think you hit in most of what may gamers want to see in NCAA Football '12. EA is good at the glitter, glamor, and glitz. Doesn't have a good track record with gameplay except for FIFA.

I have doubts we are going to see many, if any other major upgrades to this years NCAA Football game other than what has already been announced. That said with questions marks overshadowing this years Madden game NCAA 12 may well be the better way to go for your football fix.

I'll most likely be a day one buyer but there are some things that I would like to see fixed as well. The zone coverage and presentation improvements are nice but I want to see an improved cpu offense. Specificially I want to see spread option attacks and the mobile QB done a LOT better.

In the current game scrambling quarterbacks rarely take off when in the pocket. When you play a team like Oregon, they should be very difficult to stop. In NCAA 11 they were extremely easy to stop.

I'd also like to see locomotion increased. There wasn't enough player weight in the game imo and it doesn't sound like this was changed. I'd love to see player momentum options like their speed threshold slider where we could customize this to our liking.

You completely forgot how terrible the CPU recruiting is. Its the farthest thing from realism ever.

# 26 astronut @ Apr 22
for me I would like to see cpu qb's run the option efficiently and be dangerous to go the distance or toast you for a 15 or 20 yard pop. or like rudy said cpu qbs that scramble should be able to scramble. when playing georgia tech they should be harder to stop on tyhe ground

I've been playing for years, and plan to buy regardless... but if somehow they could make the dynasty experience like it was in the PS2 version years ago, I will be sold on the game.

well ncaa has had the same protak tackling since noah got off the boat ok ,the collision tackling was first introduced to us in madden 08 its nothing new , they are just now marketing a football game to all of us in the year 2011 that allows us to be able to tackle with more than one player at a time with out another player player tumbling down to the ground in a needless attempt to preform a fire drill procedure ok WAKE UP PEOPLE, this technology already exists it has taken EA this long to put it into this game
