Could gamers see QB #12 as the Green Pay Packers QB instead of Aaron Rodgers in this year's edition of Madden NFL Football?
Don't count on it.
There is nasty speculation that Madden can't or won't have real players in the game because of the ongoing NFL lockout -- not only is that speculation completely untrue, it's also been directly touched upon by different people from within EA.
For instance, EA Sports spokesperson Rob Semsey posted on Twitter that, "Madden NFL 12 will be released in August as always -- all the NFL teams, all the NFL players…all Madden."
Why is it that the Players Association has been decertified but license agreements still exist between the union and clients? Well it's simple: the licensing wing of the NFLPA is still very much operational and good to go for business. In fact, the NFLPA as an entity still exists, it just is no longer a players' union until we get a new CBA at some point in the future.
So simply put, EA's current agreement with the NFLPA will continue and real players will appear in Madden NFL 12 regardless of what happens between the owners and players.
So put an end to your speculation ladies and gentlemen, Aaron Rodgers will guide the Packers in Madden this year 100 percent guaranteed -- now whether he can lead the Pack to another Super Bowl in Madden is another question entirely.

Pretty much as I was expecting but it's nice to get some assurance on the matter.

Well atleast this is a good thing. It's been many years since madden has not had players name on the game. I could not bring myself to play madden without the names. Madden would feel empty without the players names to me. But I'm glad madden 12 will have the players name in this year. But next year can be a different story.

This was never even considered as a possibility to me. But it is good to have a clear guarantee.

Never crossed my mind. But if it were to happen within three hours of release there would be correct rosters all over the net.

Don't know why there wouldn't be real players...just look at NBA Live 99 which was released during a lockout and had real players.

I read this as "Real Physics" and almost fell of my chair .. Knew it was too good to be true

Was reading a few articles online and a lot of "business" people are saying that if there is a lockout or, hopefully not, a cancelled season, Madden sales stand to take a 30% and up hit.

Good to learn. I was concerned when the union decertified.
We don't need a pro version of NCAA.

This is good news. Looks like I won't have to restart my franchise for every new roster update this year since there won't be any. That's a plus.

I find it funny that people would have still played this game even if the players' names weren't used. These are the same people that bashed on non-NFL titles for using no name players. The irony.

What about upcoming 2011 rookies from the draft? Will they be allowed to be in the game?

Even if people were named QB#12 and such, im pretty sure people would start churning out official rosters. Look at EA's NCAA.
