I feel like Pink Floyd's 'Welcome to the Machine' should be playing in the background as I type this blog.
It only seems fitting since the Madden hype machine is now getting into gear -- and today's teaser trailer definitely has gotten OSers talking.
Here's my bullet list of things I think are big news from the trailer:
-TV Style presentation looks to be a focal point this year: The camera on the Field Goal, the new entrances, and the overhead shot in Pittsburgh are all new and things you'd see on TV as far as camera angles. This is a smart move and means EA is going the 'mimic the TV broadcast' route I've pandered for now at least 3-4 years.
-It seems as if some classic players will be in the game for Ultimate Team -- which may or may not be a great thing since Madden didn't feel all that 'natural' for the mode to begin with.
-I think we might very well finally have a new running animation, but I don't want to get too excited just yet.
-It seems as if there are some new player tendency ratings or something along those lines. If so, it's about freaking time.
-Looks like we got team specific entrances perhaps? That's another nice touch with presentation.
-The custom playbooks and surprise onside kicks aren't surprising at all -- one probably should have been in the game for 5-6 years now, you can guess which one.
-Ray Rice looks to be on a cold streak -- probably has something to do with the dynamic player ratings and whatnot we're hearing about.
-It seems EA is doing something with it's online mode. There is a chat going on in the lobby, I'm betting it's a spectator mode or something along the lines of just an overall improved online mode with an online franchise lobby.
Overall the Teaser Trailer is just what it says it is, a tease. Anyone getting mad for real information coming out probably should look up the definition of teaser trailer and get back to the rest of OS on how foolish you sound.
Right now, no solid confirmation on what anything fully means here, but it certainly seems like EA is off to another good start on getting the hype to build leading into August.
As far as whether the Madden crew has fixed many of the gripes many have had about the series for a few years, we'll leave the jury out on that one and take a wait and see approach.

The only thing that is going to bring any change to this game is being in a constant where is this feature mode. It may sound like complaining but if there was any let up we would end up with Madden 09 again for six years straight.

I've said it once and i'll say it again: "Same old graphics equal same crappy old gaming engine, and all the same morphing and bugs, glitches that come with it. Don't believe the hype! This could be Madden ELITE 12 !!! lmao

@RLo26 I don't care if they even TOUCH Franchise Mode as long as they fix everything that's wrong with the gameplay this year.

I'm not going to get too excited on the back of this video. Although some of the little snippets showed promise the same was felt for last years game at this stage of the hype machine.
I'm particularly reserving judgement on the TV style presentation. EA created some nice looking pre game sequences for Madden 11 only to repeat the same old scenes game in & game out. Variety is key to keeping the broadcast presentation feeling alive.

I'm concerned about gameplay also but I'm a offline franchise guy since it started and they completely neglected it as a whole!!!!! How is this a next gen game and gameplay and franchise are lacking more than the previous gen

Its too late for a MVP resurgence now. With The Show, I will never be going back to EA baseball.

This....Couldn't agree more JerseySuave! After they failed to make any changes in OFFLINE gameplay there was absolutely no reason for me to purchase last year's title. After picking up Madden10 following a multi-year hiatus on the next gen console, I went back to not Madden football again. At this point, with the the labor stuff going on and how underwhelmed I've been personally with several of the last few versions, it will take a lot to pull me away from my the supposed 'little brother' of football, NCAA.
