Don't You Miss the Playoff Option? Stuck

With all the current (annual) fuss about the BCS ongoing still, let's take a break from reality and visit the digital football realm. Everyone remember the NCAA Footballs at the turn of the century where they had a playoff option as well as the bowl option?

Sigh.

That was just an incredible option to have and I thoroughly enjoyed playing out my fantasy with a playoff at the end of each year. Chances are, knowing how the NCAA operates, they probably caught wind of this feature being in the game and decided to mandate change with EA.

If not, and it was just a bad design decision, who here would love to see such a feature return? What other long lost features from the NCAA Football franchise would you love to see return?

Absolutely. A playoff is the way it should be, so I would love to have that option back. Just imagine how cool it would be to have an online dynasty with a 16 team playoff at the end of the year.

I like to match reality and I don't mind the BCS (ducks for cover) so this isn't that big an option to me. I wonder if you could set the playoff format. A 4 team format would be my choice.

I want formation subs back. I'm happy with the current camera but it never hurts to give us more options. Team entrances and fan/coach cutscenes during the game would be fun to have back.

well ea's motto is " if its in the game, its in the game" the playoff system isnt in the game so they probly scrapped it. I agree with judyjuly2 in the 4 team format. But, until the NCAA opens their eyes and sees what a joke the computer system is then they never will change the BCS ( Bull Crap System).

Sure I missed the cookie -- but it bears repeating: CREATE-A-SCHOOL was the end-all-be-all feature in a sports game for me. Every year we'd check and see what new bells and whistles would be thrown in for uni creation, player equipment, stadiums and logos. Even when it became stagnant, the ability to start a school in any geo-locale at any level of play really allowed for me to actually build a team in my image. (Please excuse the Baldwin in me) And when that school reached prominence, vacating the position to accept another job let me be truly interested in the success or failure of something I had created. Create-A-School (well, that and NFL2k5) are the only reasons I still have the black box.

I guess this should be a Blog post of my own. I'll chalk that up to "future topics."

Bringing back the Playoff option would probably cause riots in Austin and Boise once every could finally simulate what we've been missing.

Yes, FCS schools with their own season and PLAYOFF along side the FBS would be amazing. It could add the same amount of depth as a college hoops legacy. Someday, I hope, because I know that won't be happening anytime soon.

I normally stick with realism. But it would be nice to at least have the option.

Me and my brother would use the playoff option in one of the NCAA games on PS1(pretty sure it was 99), and that was one of my favorite things. But, now I don't think I'd use that feature. I'd love to have it back though, because a change of pace would be nice.
