NBA 2K11 Demo Impressions Stuck
Posted on September 15, 2010 at 02:46 PM.

And now for NBA 2K11. We don't get MJ in the demo, but I'm ok with that. Let's just assess where the gameplay stands this year. Just an FYI, the Demo is rather weak in terms of features, but we're after trying to figure out where the game is going to be in a few weeks.

NBA 2K11 Demo Impressions

  • As with FIFA, this game is both responsive and smooth.
  • Controls for specific moves are a bonafide bonus in my book. Gives you pretty good control over what you want to do.
  • I can't impress enough how much more analog shooting > anything else.
  • Atmosphere is much improved, at least to me. If I closed my eyes or caught a passing glimpse of the game, I'd swear the real thing was on TV. That's a big time kudos.
  • The Demo overall is weak in the sense that you only play one 4 minute quarter with no rematch.
  • Saw what seemed to be some new camera cut-ins between plays. Some were impressive.
  • I sucked originally with the new controls though, oh my gosh I think I just passed another one to Kobe out of bounds. Fail Chris.
  • Just strung together an impressive array of moves with Kobe, then topped it off when the defense collapsed with a little dump to Gasol for the big slam home. That's basketball.
  • Just tried to oop Gasol with Bynum passing, whoops. That didn't work.
  • If you use real basketball principles, you get real basketball results for the most part, except the AI is a little slow on Pro.
  • I see empty seats, that must mean dynamic attendance is in or 2K has a cruel sense of humor with the Laker faithful.
  • I'm starting to get the feeling this might be one of the bigger one year leaps in the series in some time, so much just feels new and better.
  • Graphical detail is much improved too, I know I've touched in the graphics once, but they really do look much better.
  • Not much contact/foul action going on for me, that might be trouble, or it might be fixable with sliders.
  • Just drove the lane and hit a pull up jumper with Kobe. I now almost know what it feels like to be Kobe....almost.
Overall: NBA 2K11 is going to be a must-own for NBA fans. It's improved upon the formula in 2K10 in almost every way and the series 'staleness' appears to be a thing of the past. Look out world, NBA 2K11 is coming and it looks very, very good.

I have both the PS3 and XBOX 360 version as well and as has been stated before the xbox looks WAY better. One thing I noticed is that the date of the rosters for the demo's they show at the loading screen the ps3 is like a month older than the xbox. it may very well be that the demo's are not equal. I wanted to go ps3 this year as well but I'm holding off at this point.

I noticed the roster dates as well. I hoping that it was just an earlier build and will at least be a little better visually because everything else was great. I traded my XBOX in until i can pick up a slim cause i need the wi fi and my system was ancient with a 20 gig HD...HA. I have a faith that 2k will make the games as comparible as they can. I also have more friends buyin and playin on ps3. I'm sure either way I will be satisfied.
