Looming lockout (NBA) ruins draft...imo

We'll i just finished watching the 2011 NBA draft, and was quite disappointed with most of the results. I knew the draft was in trouble with 3 out of the top 10 picks going with overseas players.
I ask you all that have watched or heard of the draft this year; what happened to all of the home grown good players that where left out and off the draft board(s) this year?
My feeling was that teams did not have enough money to spend on players / free agents this year, so they played it safe, and saved money NOW. i wasnt too impressed with it all, expect for the few trades that went down during the draft.

Personally, I liked the draft. I do agree that a few more picks than should have went to international players, but overall it went well

The NBA Draft for the most part is a shot in the dark for pretty much all teams. The NBA Network replayed past drafts leading up to Thursday night and to be honest I'd say 80% of the people taken end up as busts. As far a International players going in the early parts of the draft I think it just shows what playing with men from the age of 16 up really helps foreign players develop. I think it is easy to see that the quality of basketball has slowly been declining.

The reason there were so many international players is because the lockout doesn't really effect them. If there is a lockout they can still play for money back in Europe. In fact, players such as Jonas Valanciunas will may play there anyway due to his buyout. On the other hand, if American players leave for the draft and there's a lockout then they left college basketball to do nothing until the NBA returns. Next year, the American players that didn't leave college this year will leave and there will be a strong American draft class.
