In the end, we'll be having more fun with this in place than without it in my opinion.

LMAO. **** them Raiders, Al can keep his ****ty flowers. When they start beating me in convincing fashion we'll worry about them. Right now they're nothing more than a bunch of bull**** artists who continue to do just enough to win. Your time is running out! Running Ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut!

Seriously though, I'm looking forward to our game. I remember Neil throwing five picks against your defense.
I also remember Gale Sayers. Let's just say that I have something in store for him...

Dear god, Pappy, where do you find those profile pics? I think if I actually saw something like that in living color I'd squeak like LL Cool J in that Old Spice commercial and run away out of sheer craziness.
And BTW, nice McD's commercial :-).

Lol, yeah, he played terribly. The last pick at the goal line was thrown literally five yards in front of a wide open Jones. He doesn't do that very often. It was a good check, though. I need to get back into the mindset that I took to my first few games, playing sound, balanced football, making solid reads, and taking what's there. All those 35+ point games kind of messed with my decision-making process. I still feel good, though, 'cause even with a terrible game on both sides of the ball I was still in a position to win. I couldn't say that about last season's team, that's for sure.
Good luck in your games this week!

Yeah, I was bummed our first game was disconnected. I was doing a better job at shutting down Gayle. Seemed like we both were in a groove offensively after the re-start. Your D is certainly tough; if it wasn't for me converting some of those 3rd-and-longs, I would've lost that game. As always, looking forward to the next game.

Man, I've been following Youngblood closely this year, and he's destroying folks. 5.5 sacks in 5 games is nice! Keep it up (just not against me, lol).

Nice. That's the great thing about Ronny; his standard is so high that he demands perfection of himself on every single play of every practice, every game. It's rare to see that kind of accountability in a league of stars, so that's refreshing. I know he'll work it out in practice this week and make his opponent pay.
BTW, did Creatine post some All-Pro picks that I just missed? I was skimming through the thread (which is like 50 pages now, lol), and didn't see anything.
I think you're right about last season, though. With the Hitman debacle, shizno disappearing, etc, everything wound up being off. This season promises to be much, much better. Everyone seems committed to playing their games and giving a good, clean effort. I don't play in any other leagues, but I'd have to guess that ours is the most fun and one of the more competitive ones.

I had the same problem yesterday; I sent Creatine a message and it didn't show up, so I wrote the digest version the second time around, lol.
Has Lott been dropping lots of picks? I'd hate to see his numbers if he'd pulled down every pass he's gotten his mitts on. I bet you'll have at least one more pick six with him this year.
I saw that Harbaugh had yet another mediocre game. I don't know what the deal is there--he's normally pretty good. I haven't run with him in a long time, but when I did he was always very good. I think he'll turn it around in a couple of games. The good news is you're 2-1 even without a consistent quarterback or running back. That's pretty damn impressive. Once those guys come around, it's business as usual for you.

Nice win, Pappy! I love the success you're having with Lott. Another game, another pick. And Youngblood looked like he put his stamp on that game: 5 total tackles and 2 sacks. He's your diamond in the rough this year. It's also nice to see that Gale is finding his stride. You know he's gonna give you some kick returns, but now he's finding success on the ground. If your team continues to play this way, I'm in for a rude awakening in our second game. Five picks by the defense to boot! That's straight up dominance. Keep it up!

Pappy you have to be pumped with how the Armchair season 2 has been going! I opened up a couple of extra games for the South to keep us at pace with you guys. So far everyone seems pretty active and excited to participate. I'm hoping the writeups some of us are doing will spark interest for others to do so as they add SO much to the league.
Just like real life football, playing is #1, but analysis is right behind that!

The league site is looking good, man. The Dexter story on the front page is funny. I have some more stuff planned for Dexter. He's my troubled but talented character this season. I've also got plans to introduce Bobby Pingpong ;-).

RogueHominid @ Dec 26, 2008
Well, I know from last year that a hot start don't mean squat. I have to play consistently well, and only time will tell if I've figured out how to improve in that area. And I still have to figure out a way to beat Grunt. His defense will make my offense a moot point unless I get some lucky breaks, and he's no slouch on offense either. I'm not looking forward to that game, but I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed.
# 9
RogueHominid @ Dec 24, 2008
Lol. It was a better game than it seemed; you have too much offensive talent for me to have those kinds of days consistently on the defensive side of the ball, and Kramer isn't always going to play like he did today. The next one is in Carolina, so it should be a different story. I like the press war stuff, though, it adds some drama to the league.
# 8
RogueHominid @ Dec 15, 2008
LMFAO at the OJ stuff. I wanted to give Emmitt and Mike their due before sending them off into the sunset. I can't believe you took Lott with the first overall pick! I wanted him for my new-look Trojans team! Oh well. I got called "boring" by a guy recently for my lack of offensive creativity, and our Armchair League brothers are gonna feel the wrath for that--I'm about to open things up. You better hope Lott brings his A game :-).
BTW, nice 2k9 blogs--you're a blogging fool now. It does make things much more fun and immersive. Just wait till you get the video equipment rolling next season.

That was deep, man, and eloquently put. And just a little funny, lol. I couldn't decide whether to chuckle or to shed a tiny man tear. I love it! If you're going to run with the Phoenix team, those garish yellow unis might suit you best .

Lol--thanks for the love on the writeups. I'm doing another one that should be some fun as a sort of preview to the last game of the season. Man do I ever need a win! BTW the all-line games are fun. My two "clutch" DL didn't do jack against you last game, though.

RogueHominid @ Nov 14, 2008
Haha. I know, man, I'm stunned. You literally wouldn't believe the play that cost me the game against Hitman if you saw it, and the drop against Grunt that would have tied the game was just disgusting. I had everyone beat by 4-5 yards, and the ball landed in Martins' arms at about the 4--no way he doesn't get in if he catches it.
Grunt is very tough. The thing he got me on was formations where my guys would be in man but somehow line up completely across the formation from the guy they were covering. He got some huge pass plays to Carter and Craig that way.
I may have an outside shot at the playoffs, but I need to win three more games at least. The good news is that my recent losses have been close for the most part and on the road--playing at home will help.
I definitely need more consistent pass defense. It seems like I have regular breakdowns in coverage and I need to figure out how to remedy that. If you have any pointers, send 'em along ;-).

Haha. Glad you got a kick out of that. I had to dramatize that Maynard hit and have a little fun with it. I love Mike, man--he's leading the league in tackles and passes defensed. He couldn't touch Faulk, though.
And believe me, I know you'll be back. I count myself lucky to win at all against you, and to sweep the series is about as likely as a lunar eclipse, so I don't see this happening again. I've gotta start thinking about next year and what I want to do differently.
