Idaho snaps 3 game losing streak by edging Fresno State, 38-35

Moscow, ID -- The Vandals rode the back of Dylan Thigpen and had some role players step up and make some key plays to put Idaho over Fresno State 38-35 in the Kibbie Dome Saturday night.

"I'm just proud of our guys", said Vandals head coach Buddy Lee. "All week I told them to believe, and when times looked shaky, they didn't fold."

Idaho senior quarterback Mason Petrino was very efficient, going 10 for 15 with 104 yards and a touchdown in which he found senior wide receiver Jante Boston in the end zone when they needed it most. But it was their bell cow, running back Dylan Thigpen, who was the true cog in the offensive machine. He finished the day with 307 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns.

All wasn't perfect for Idaho, though. Their defense still let the Bulldogs march up and down the field at will. But a key stop in the second quarter gave Idaho the opportunity to get ahead in the shootout. They kicked a field goal before halftime and now it was a race to see who would score last. In the fourth quarter, Bulldogs quarterback Marcus McMaryion forced a pass into coverage and fourth string cornerback and junior Tevin Duke intercepted it. This gave the Vandals breathing room to run down the clock. They marched down the field thanks to Thigpen and went up by 10. Fresno State scored again, but time had run out. It was a nailbiter to the end.

Idaho (2-4) travels to Arkansas State (1-4) next.
