In my second year at San Jose State, the offense got the hang of my system and we made great strides. We finished with a record of 8-4 with a berth to the Armed Forces Bowl against Tulsa. We won and I couldn�t tell you what the score was, but it was by at least two scores. I decided I wouldn�t keep real records until I became a head coach.

I have no patience when it comes to finally running the whole team, so I didn�t take the contract extension. I saw that FAU�s coach was ready to be fired, so I held out for that offer. Problem is, FAU�s coach didn�t get fired. He still had one season left on his contract and they weren�t going to buy him out. So I turned down SJSU�s final extension offer waiting for a head coaching job that never came, lol!! And I ended up taking the last available position: OC at Eastern Michigan.
