The Draft: Building Dreams
Building dreams
The draft is the single most important aspect of building a team. Young studs full of energy and full of hope waiting for the call on that special night to see where their career begins. GM's and owners salivating at the mouth when they see the franchise saving player entering the most creative and dynamic element in sports. Every year we watch as sports reporters, fans, coaches, and players launch into the draft with their own opinions...their "gameplan" on transforming their organization by rebuilding it or retooling it. The pre-draft combine is where we test the draft hopefuls on their athleticism...and their football IQ. The scouts from each team spend years watching and studying these kids in college and in high school. It's the great finality of it all...the dreaded "wrong" pick or the elusive "magic" pick is the lifeblood of franchise developing. That one misstep...one impulsive gamble...one devastating injury to a prospect...one under performing college player who steps up his game...like future hall of famer Tom Brady being selected 199th pick overall...it's where dreams are born...for the players...but especially for the owners.
