Becoming a good defender in Nba 2k12 is not very difficult All it takes is self discipline and control. Nba 2k12 added a feature where the right stick is used to put your hands up on defense. When playing perimeter defense this feature is extremely useful. Instead of closing out using the block button, use the hands up feature to try bothering the offensive players shot. If the offensive player fakes instead it sets your defender up perfectly for a good defensive sequence. If you put your hands up, your defender is still in position to stop the offensive player from driving in. If you jump for the block, you are off your feat and are unable to recover defensively as the offensive player will easily drive the basket or will make you foul the player as you jump into the offensive player. Using the hands up feature might shut down your opponent completely on the outside. Another small tip is don't go for steals if you are in the simulation setting. Going for steals will almost always lead to fouls or you being out of position for an easy drive for your opponent. Stay calm, use the left and right trigger and follow your defender and you will most likely get a stop. If your opponent makes shots even though your hand is in the players face, don't get frustrated, know in your mind that the player can't make those shots all game.
