Bears @ Giants: Preseason Notes
Posted on August 26, 2012 at 06:22 PM.
I would like to begin by apologizing for my lack of a preview for the third preseason game. I was quite busy in the hours leading up to the game, but I hope that you all managed without me.

If there’s ever a preseason game that’s telling, it’s the third one—and the Giants told quite a lot on Friday night. Although they eventually lost the game by a score of 20-17 to the Chicago Bears, the starter-dominated first half featured a 17-7 Giants lead and a host of impressive plays. Here are some of the highlights from the game:

–Eli Manning was back to his sensational self. He completed 17 of 21 passes for 148 yards and 1 Touchdown. Two of his incompletions were dropped passes, while the other two were intentionally thrown out of bounds. Essentially, Eli successfully completed all 19 passes he attempted in the game.

-Eli’s job was made much easier by the superb running of David Wilson. Finally getting his chance with the first-teamers, Wilson ran for 49 yards on 5 attempts and caught 2 passes for an additional 26 yards. His explosiveness is something that has been talked about over and over again this preseason, but his tough downhill running proved that he won’t shy away from a hit and, similar to Bradshaw, will do whatever is necessary to keep the ball moving forward.

-Wilson’s success was partially due to some fantastic run blocking in the early game. Henry Hynoski was the leader, making several crucial blocks which sprung Wilson for big gains.
