Young Hurler Allows 1 Run in 7 Innings
David Price has owned the Orioles picking up 2 wins against the club
Baltimore, MD He got even better. After surrendering 4 runs early in his first outing against the Orioles, Pitcher David Price was even better in his second. Going 7 strong allowing only 1 run on 5 hits, as the Rays beat the birds 6-1, the third loss in a row for Baltimore.
On the other side of the spectrum Brian Matusz had a rough outing, the young pitcher managed only 3 innings of work before he was pulled after allowing 5 runs on 7 hits. Mark Hendrickson came on in relief and managed to slow the Tampa bats going 3.1 innings and allowing only 1 run. Cla Merideth also threw 2.2 innings of no hit ball fanning 5. Rick Kranitz mentioned that they will try to tweak Matusz delivery before his next start. [Editors Note: switched from Anibal Sanchez' delivery to Rich Hill's delivery for Matusz]
Evan Longoria is on fire. For the second straight game, he sent two balls into the stand at Camden Yards, giving him 4 homeruns in two games (6 this year). Longoria homered in the 1st and 3rd innings supplying Tampa with a 3-0 lead more than enough offense to stave off the birds who's only run came on an Adam Jones RBI single in the 3rd inning.
The series wraps up tomorrow night as Baltimore looks to avoid the sweep sending Brad Bergeson to face off against Wade Davis.
