O's Fail to sweep Blue Jays 8-1

Romero was masterful against the O's

Baltimore, MD For what ever reason the 2010 Baltimore Orioles can't hit lefty's. For the 2nd time this season the O's had a chance to sweep a division opponent and for the second time they failed to do so. Falling 8-1 to the Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon.

It was a rough day at the plate for the Orioles despite collecting 8 hits the O's scored just one run against Ricky Romero, who fanned 5 in allowing only a 5th inning run off a Brian Roberts double. "I don't have a clue why we can't hit those guys [leftys] but damn if we haven't so far." Dave Trembly would offer after the game.

Kevin Millwood had one of those afternoons. After matching Romero through the first three inning Millwood ran into some tough luck in the 4th. After giving up a walk to John Buck, Millwood would watch as Jose Bautista would hit a 2 run homer off him, Adam Lind in the same inning would do the same after a single. In the blink of an eye Millwood would find himself down 4-0. With his offense offering little resitance to Romero Millwood would take his first loss of the season. Jason Berken in relief would do little to stop the onslaught. In 3.2 innings pitched Berken would surrender 6 hits and 3 earned runs. "I knew that I was gonna have to hold them off and I was out there to eat the last few innings for the pen. I don't think I gave our guys a chance." Berken would offer after the game. The loss drops the Orioles to 4-2 on the season.

Next up for the birds, the Tampa Bay Rays for 3 games at Camden Yards.
