49,290 Watch O's win Home Opener

Adam Jones' homer was all the O's would need.

Baltimore, MD It was a great day to be an Oriole player or fan for that matter. On a beautiful Friday afternoon at Camden Yard the Orioles would record their 3rd win of the season 5-1 against the visiting Toronto Blue Jays. Back to back homeruns in the 1st inning by Adam Jones and Matt Wieters would be plenty of offense on a day when starter Brad Bergeson was almost unhittable.

The Orioles would pound out 14 hits, every hitter in the line up would record at least one hit. The top three spots in the line up would drive in 4 of the 5 runs. "It was a good day, we were swinging the bats well." Manager Dave Trembley would say after the game. Despite all the hits there were some areas that could use improvement. "We got the runs, but I feel that we left a few out there, with out inability to mover runners over and hit with runner in scoring position." Hitting Coach Rick Kranitz would add.

On the mound the Orioles were more than pleased with Brad Bergeson and his efforts on the hill. Bergeson would pitch 6 plus innings allowing 1 earned run on only 4 hits, walking 2 and striking out 3. He was pulled after giving up a double in the 7th inning to Randy Ruiz who would score with Cla Merideth pitching in relief. The Orioles bullpen would close out Toronto allowing only 2 hits in the last 3 innings of work. Wanting to get his long guys some work Trembly had lefty Mark Hendrikson work the non save situation 9th inning.

The second game of the series will feature David Hernandez making his first start of the season after beating out Chris Tillman for the 5th spot in the rotation. He will face David Eveland tomorrow at 7:05.

I really like the O's lineup. You get any pitching and you will be dangerous.
