Price Halts O's Rays win 7-4 Stuck

Price Cools off Oriole Bats as Rays Find Offense

Price went 8 strong innings after a rocky start.

Tampa, Fl Welcome back Tampa. The Tampa Bay Rays were able to put and end to their two game losing streak to start the season stopping the Baltimore Orioles 7-4 tonight in Tampa. Rays pitcher David Price who got off to a rocky start, would retire the last 14 Oriole batters he faced en route to the win. Fellow lefty Brian Matusz was the loser despite what his manager called "a real gutsy outing."

It didn't start off bad for the Orioles they were able to get on top early again when Nick Markakis hit a 3 run homerun off Price for a 3-0 lead in the first. Tampa got one back in the bottom of the 2nd off a Gabe Kapler solo shot. Tampa would get 3 more runs to take a 4-3 when Carl Crawford was able to turn on a Matusz pitch for a 3-run home run in the 3rd. The Orioles would respond with another run in the 4th on a sac fly from Luke Scott scoring Tejada. It was as close as Baltimore would get. The Rays would touch long reliever Jason Berken for 3 more runs in the 6th. 2 off an Evan Longoria home run.

Price was able to go silence the Orioles after the 4th run scored. He was in control and getting the breaks and the Orioles continued to smack the ball all over the field, right into the waiting gloves of Tampa defenders. It was the Rays first win of the season and it helped them avoid the sweep.

Tampa will stay home to host the Yankees while Baltimore heads home for it's Opening weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays.
