MLB 09 "Road to the Show" Welcome to The Show Kid
Posted on March 15, 2009 at 02:26 PM.
Well after 2 years of fine tunning my craft in AA and AAA. I got a spring invite from the Nationals and pitched well enough in the spring to not only make the big club, but was entrenched as the number 2 starter in the rotation. That was welcome news. I also got a nice little pay raise. My AAA contract was going to pay me about $129,000. Well now that I'm in the bigs I will be making $389,000. Still underpaid as a number 2 pitcher in MLB but I'm still 3 years away from arbitration so it's got to be good enough for now.

My first start was against the Mets. I saw this team several times in spring training. In the off-season they added the bat, speed and glove on Jimmy Rollins. He was the new Mets leadoff hitter. He wasn't to nice to me. He took me deep twice. The first time was in the first at bat of the game. He took my 5th pitch and sent it 409 feet into right center. Ouch! It didn't get any better from there. I would give up HR's to David Wright and to my old AAA teammate Dmitri Young also took me for a ride. Despite getting shelled by the Mets, my team now a big league club also has some stick in the line up now. They were able to pick me up and actually take the win 7-6.

My First Game as a Pro.

Welcome Rookie 10.80 ERA

Next up for young Mr. Robinson was the Atlanta Braves. Another division game. I must say that from my last start to this one. There was a lot of "development" for me. I actually pitched a very good game all things considered. I was only able to go 5 innings again. I also took 5 first loss of the season, but I pitched 100 times better in this game. My only mistake was a slurve that missed it spot and was launched. That was it. I was able to fan 6 batters. This game was still close as I left, but the bullpen didn't put up any kind of resistance. I did get some defensive help from my team. It's so nice to have major league defenders backing you up.

1st Loss as a Major Leaguer

So it was a rough start to my quest as a big leaguer. I'm holding an ERA at 8.10 and I have given up 5 home runs. I don't know what the future holds for me, but I know that I have another start against the Rockies and there is no time dwell on my rough start. I'm in the big leagues now and who wouldn't be excited about that?

8.10 ERA lmao man that rough, you are sure taking a lickin,it seems to take a while though to get to the major leagues thats why i never started a road to the show season bcuz i dont have the patience for it,but it's sord of un realistic because it only took Derek Jeter less than a year to get the majors and it took you 2 years just to get a spot on the lowely Nationals,i can only imagine what it would be like in the Yankees or Red Sox.

Yeah, it's a lot better to be in the bigs. The Nats year 3 lineup isn't too bad to be honest they have some nice ball players. I think that in my next update I will go over their line-up. They have a couple of big bats and some speed to go with it. Hopefully Nationals park will help too. It's suppose to be a pitchers park.
