MLB 09 "Road to the Show" Man on a Mission.

When we last left young Richard Robinson he was in the midst of a winning streak and seemed to have found his rythem following a rough run in the early part of the summer. His defense was behind him, the offense was putting up nice numbers. He had found a way to pitch to lefties with out the addition of a 5th pitch. Things were going Rich's way. Would his dominance continue or would he revert back to his up and downs ways?

More importantly then my own numbers is the fact that my team is actually struggling and was losing ground in the standing and the wild card chase. Despite my good luck the team wasn't hot. I took the hill against the Pawsox with our team desperately needing a win. I would do my best to help my squad out, while trying to keep my winning streak alive. I was spotted a 3 run lead in the first and would receive another 3 runs in the second. With that I was able to limit the sox to 3 runs in 6 innings, giving the bull pen a 3 run lead and only 9 out needed for a win. It turns out that wasn't enough we lost 10-6

Tough Home Loss

My next start was my 25th of the year. I only had 5 more to go. It was time for me to turn this thing around. I was 10-6 with a 3.00 ERA. I felt that I was pitching really good and I could start to turn the corner. My fastball was popping the catchers mitt and I was getting more confidant with my slurve, and split. The Change was becoming a very nice change of ace pitch, getting as low as 75 MPH to compliment the 97 the fastball was hitting from time to time. The Yankees of Scranton were not match for me this time (without the help of Dwight Schrute and Micheal Scott heckling my team) I struck out 5 in 6+ innings of work. I felt that after 6 I was done, but I went back out there in the 7th let 2 runners get on and they would score after I was in the shower, but they were charged to me. We won the game 8-2 which was my 11th win on the season.

11th Win

Next up where the 1st place Leigh High Vally Iron Pigs. This game would end up being a bit of a shootout. It wasn't because I didn't try to silence the bats. I did my part as best I could. The pen let them in the game allowing 4 runs in 2.2 innings of relief. The offense however was just as explosive scoring 9 runs and never really letting the game get that close. It was a nice win agianst the best team in our division.

Beating the pigs

My 7th win in a row. Was an all around team route. Everyone got in on the act in this game. Hitting, pitching, defense it was one of the best games we played this year. I was every bit as good as I had been on this recent run. I was hitting my spots and generating a lot of weak contact. Of the 4 hits I surrendered only 1 left the infield in the air. The other three were ground balls that got past my defense. When the did get to the ball there were great. No errors. The pen came in and recorded the final 9 outs surrendering 3 hits in 3 innings. *This game also took me over 100 strike-outs on the season* That was rewarded with 100 training points.

Nice Team Win

So there you have it. I continued my hotness from the last update. 13-6 with a 2.90 ERA. It was also good to see my team had played back into the Playoff hunt. We were now 4 games out of the wild card and 6 out of the division lead. I only have 2 starts left and my numbers are looking pretty good. Could I maybe get that September call-up with a strong finish? Will I be able to take my win streak to 10 games and my season win total to 15? Stay tuned...

Editors note: Next update will be the end of the year and the year in review.
