Can't We All Just Get Along?: MLB 2K9 vs. MLB 09 The Show
Posted on February 20, 2009 at 10:12 PM.
In almost every gaming forum I head to in search of info on this year's crop of baseball titles, there is one certainty: I will find at least one MLB 2K9 vs. MLB The Show thread.

Informed debate is always a good thing, but what I often see is back-and-forth banter that offers little in the way of constructive conversation.

MLB 09 fans claim backers of 2K's offering are disillusioned Xbox 360 owners who have no choice but to support the game developed by Visual Concepts. 2K9 fans respond by claiming Sony's game is the best thing that the PlayStation 3 has going for it and that a baseball game is not worth the $400 admission price. The discussions boil over into console wars, personal attacks, etc. None of which resemble a discussion about the actual games in question.

As I stated in my previous blog entry, I am an Xbox 360 owner. If I want a console baseball game, 2K9 is where it's at.

I have played The Show in its various formats (PS2, PS3 and PSP) and enjoy the game. It is, in my opinion, the console leader in baseball gaming.

But one can't deny that the videos released showing 2K9 in action portray an improved game that looks to be in capable hands.

I just don't see the need for folks to come on to forums and bash one game or another. Both 2009 hardball offerings seem to bring a lot to the table. Pick one, pick both or pick none. The choice is yours.

But remember others have their own choice and opinions as well.
