Aggies Win Season Opener But At a Cost!
By Steve Gale
Your New Mexico State Aggies have started off the season with a 31 to 17 win over Sacramento State. This win come at a loss though as WR Austin Franklin & WR Darrius Preston were injured and early reports they both will be out multiple weeks. We should have more information tomorrow about the injuries but both seemed pretty severe.
HB Robert Clay was named Player of The Game with 29 carries,168 yards,5.7 per rush avg,2 rushing TD,2 rec,54 yards, along with 1 receiving TD.
Tomorrow I'll have a more in depth coverage of the game but for now enjoy the boxscore. Also due to NCAA laws we are unable to post the specific stats of the Sacramento State players.
Be sure to comeback tomorrow for more information.

Week 1 Review of Aggies Win
By Steve Gale
[size="3"][font="Arial Narrow"]We have some breaking news to report first to you. Injuries to both Wideouts Austin Franklin & Darrius Preston will keep them out for most of the season. WR Austin Franklin has a broken collarbone and will be out at least 10 weeks. While WR Darrius Preston has a torn shoulder and he will be out at least 7 weeks.
Head Coach DeWayne Walker also informed the media that Wideouts Joesph Matthews & Adam Shapiro would have their redshirts pulled and will play in next weeks game vs Ohio. Hopefully the WR core does not see any more extended injuries or OC Matt Crock will have to get creative in putting other position players at the wideout spot.
Now to the game. It was a nice win for The Aggies. New Mexico State won by the score of 31 to 17. Despite some injuries the offense was able to still gain over 400 yards in total offense and rush for over 250. The defense on the other hand looked shaky. The pass defense nearly allowed a 300 passing yard game.
QB Andrew Manley will need to improve his decision making and accuracy. He threw 2 interceptions and that could have been 3 if not for a drop. He went 10-23 with a touchdown. On the ground QB Manley did have a nice day as he had 11 carries for 62 yards and a rushing touchdown.
The O-Line had a clean game. No false starts,no sacks, and as a team were able to get 3 pancakes. The WR core will need someone to step out and become a deep threat. Maybe Kevan Walker can be that man as he had 2 receptions for 40 yards.
The Player of The Game was HB Robert Clay. Who in his first game liven up to the preseason hype. He had 29 carries,168 rushing yards,2 TD,2 receptions,54 receiving yards, and a TD reception.
Now on to the defense. The defense was able to get 4 sacks and 2 interceptions. The defense pass defense has much improvement ahead of them. The D gave up 2 big plays of 49 yards and 81 yards.
The Linebacker core showed as predicted to be the strength of the defense. Linebackers Bryan Bonilla,BJ Adolpho, and Trashaun Nixon combined for 31 of the teams 65 total tackles.
Tomorrow we will have our Week 1 WAC Review. Also later on in the week we will have our NCAA Week 1 review,Interview with Coach Crock, and Matchup Preview vs The Ohio Bobcats.
New Mexico State travels to Ohio to face the Ohio Bobcats this Saturday, but in 2 weeks they do face rival New Mexico Lobos. Tickets are on sale now for that game so be sure to call and get your tickets today.

Week 1: WAC Review San Jose State wins shocker
By Steve Gale
What a opening week for the WAC Conference as San Jose State was able to upset #20 Stanford. The Spartans won the game 34 to 27 at Stanford.
As a whole the WAC was 5-2 out of conference. Only Texas State & LA Tech loss and both were considered underdogs. With rumors swirling that the conference could fold after this season. Maybe with a few strong showings like this will keep the programs together.

NCAA Week 1 Review: #1 Alabama Just Dominates!
By Steve Gale
The 2012-2013 season is underway and with it #1 Alabama is starting off just like they ended last season. Winning! The Crimson Tide rolled over Michigan to a score of 35 to 10. The Tide jumped out to a 28 point advantage and never looked back.
I imagine that the poor performance of Michigan QB Denard Robinson will be something that will keep him from winning the Heisman. Robinson was 8 of 23 for 102 yards. He had 13 carries for 44 yards as well. The Crimson Tide defense really man handle Michigan.
TOMORROW, We'll have our interview with OC Matt Crock. It'll be interesting to see how he responds to losing WR Austin Franklin. Also on Friday we will have The Matchup Preview vs The Ohio Bobcats for you as well.
Now heres The New TOP 25, Players of The Week,Heisman Watch, and a some noteable games to keep a eye out for in Week 2.

Week 1 Interview w/OC Matt Crock
By Steve Gale
With the Aggies traveling to Ohio, I was able to meet up with OC Matt Crock before they left to face the Bobcats. The offense looked pretty good against Sacramento State. Hopefully the passing attack will improve as defense key in on stopping the run.
Heres the interview!
Gale: Your offense had a strong showing in the win against the Bobcats. What was the main key to the success of the offense?
Crock: I would have to say our ablility to overcome our own mistakes. We had 2 turnovers which is something we can not afford to do on a weekly basis. Even with those 2 turnovers and with the defenses help we were able to overcome them.
Gale: Injuries really hit your WR's in the opening game. You lost WR's Austin Franklin & Darrius Preston for multiple weeks. You also then had to unredshirt WR's Joespth Matthews & Adam Shiparo. How have the injuries thus far affect the offense moving forward?
Crock: Its something that you just have to adapt to. Now is there some wrinkles I had planned that I won't use now? Sure, but you just gotta move forward.
Gale: The passing game seemed to struggle at times. How do you plan to improve in that area?
Crock: In camp and practice leading up the passing game looked great. I think it was just first game jitters. We have worked on it this week and it looked great again. If its something after the Ohio game is still a problem then we will take a different approach from there.
Gale: This is your first road game of the 2012-2013 season. What are some road challenges you have worked on with your offense?
Crock: Just staying focused and not allowing the other teams fans getting to you. Just worry about what ur suppose to do and we will be alright.
Gale: Whats the key to the offense for the game at Ohio, vs The Bobcats?
Crock: No stupid mistakes. That means no turnovers,no mental lapses, and no dumb penaltys. If we can do that our offense has a chance to be successful each drive.
Tomorrow we will have The Matchup Preview at Ohio Bobcats. Be sure to check it out!!
Matchup Preview vs Ohio
By Steve Gale
If The Aggies have any hope in winning this game against a tough Ohio Bobcat squad it will come down to the Aggie defense. OLB Bryan Bonilla and the rest of the linebacker core will most likely have to be the playmakers for the defense.
The Bobcats are coming on a impressive win over Penn State. They won the game at Penn State. The score was 10 to 3. Frank Solich has built a very solid program at Ohio. They run a pistol offense that leans towards the running game.
The offense is led by QB Tyler Tettleton. He is a dual threat qb which could give the aggies lots of trouble. Redshirt Junior Beau Blakenship is also another threat in both the running and passing game the defense will need to key on. In the passing game there is not one true threat. So the defensive backfield will need to play solid as a whole.
On the defensive for the Bobcats look out for Senior LOLB Alphonso Lewis. Him and the rest of the front seven will look to shutdown New Mexico State's Spread Power Option Attack. If needed look for FS Gerald Moore to come up in the box to assist in stopping the run and for him to try and create some turnovers.
The experts have Ohio winning this game. I'm on the fence about it. I think Ohio is prime for a letdown but I'm just not sure of this Aggie defense. So I think the Aggies will suffer their first loss of the season.
New Mexico State 20
Ohio 38
Below is some Matchup Preview Stats for you die hard fans. Lets hope I'm wrong and The Aggies can pull out the upset.
