Games of the week
New York Giants at Baltimore Ravens
X Factor – Eli Manning, New York Giants QB
Eli Manning hasn’t had a 300 yard game since October 21 against the Redskins. Even when his team has gotten it together offensively against the Packers and the Saints, Manning still threw less than 300 yards. Throwing for 300 yards isn’t necessary crucial to win, but the Giants need Eli Manning to be their quarterback of last year.
Until November, Eli Manning was on fire. The Giants need that Manning back.
Prediction
Lost in this “Will the Giants make the playoffs” scenario is the Ravens losing four of their last five games. Firing Cam Cameron wasn’t the answer against Denver and their offense has failed to be consistent. Manning and his receiver Victor Cruz, who have both been hit or miss, will be a hit today. 26-16 Giants
Cincinnati Bengals at Pittsburgh Steelers
X Factor – Antonio Brown, Pittsburgh Steelers WR
For the first time since returning to injury, Antonio Brown had a standout game. The third year wide receiver was targeted 12 times and caught eight passes for 76 yards with a touchdown.
In their first meeting against the Bengals, Brown had eight receptions and 96 yards. Will Brown have another big game?
Prediction
This is do or die for the Steelers today. If they lose, they are eliminated from the playoffs. 21-17 Bengals
San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks
X Factor – Russell Wilson, Seahawks QB
Wilson has been outstanding at home this season. He’s thrown 12 touchdowns and only one interception. However against the 49ers in their first meeting, Wilson completed a season low 39.1 percent of his passes.
If the Seahawks win, Wilson will be the standout he has been at home.
Prediction
The Seahawks have just been incredible at home this season and have put up two 50 point plus games in a row. This game will be higher scoring than people expect and much more entertaining than their blunder on Thursday Night Football. 28-24 Seahawks
Minnesota Vikings at Houston Texans
X Factor – Adrian Peterson, Vikings’ runningback
With Calvin Johnson breaking Jerry Rice’s record yesterday, will Adrian Peterson also break Ed Dickerson’s record today? It would take a historic day with Peterson needing about 300 yards to set the new record.
However, Peterson also needs a big day to keep the Vikings’ playoff hopes alive. Peterson could also clinch his MVP vote if AD has the game of his career and helps the Vikings sneak into the playoffs.
Prediction
For fantasy purposes, I hope this is a relatively low scoring game with Kyle Rudolph (my tight end) scoring the only two Vikings touchdowns (Texans’ defense). In all likely hood, this will be a Texans blowout while they try to clinch home advantage in the AFC. 31-14 Texans
