Countdown to Monday Night: Can Peyton Manning overcome the Chargers? Stuck

Historically, the Chargers have gotten to Peyton Manning.

Manning, 1-5 all-time against them, had the worst outing of his career in 2007 where he threw six interceptions to the Chargers. Norv Turner and his defenses have given Peyton the fits.

Now on Monday Night Football, Manning goes up against the Chargers again in a desperate game for both teams.

�Obviously, division opponents are very critical,� John Fox told ESPN. �We�ll remain focused. Our guys will remain positive, despite all the noise on the outside. We have another opportunity, is all I can say, against a division team.�

Both the Chargers and the Broncos struggled last week against high powered offenses. Brees and Brady tore up the teams� secondary. For the Chargers, they let up the game slip away from them late, while the Broncos started slow once again.

For both teams, this will be a game about fixing their flaws.

The Broncos are third worst in the league at giving up third downs at 46.7 percent. This wasn�t more evident when on 3rd and 17, Danny Woodhead converted a first down to keep a drive alive.

The Broncos will look to correct their problems against a team that is tenth on converting on third down at 41.5 percent.

On the other hand, the Chargers need to get more consistency out of their run game. With most of their wide receivers banged up, Ryan Matthews will have to be consistent to prove he should be their starting running back.

Still for Peyton Manning, he�ll look to take advantage of a team that has gotten the better of him in the past. As a Bronco, Manning�s been fantastic. Even at 2-3, Manning�s only poor game was throwing three interceptions against Atlanta.

The only question that remains is can he?
